An actress has accused director Arindam Sil of kissing her without consent during a film shoot, leading her to seek legal assistance. She lodged a complaint with the West Bengal Commission of Women and felt appalled seeing Sil at a ‘Reclaim the Night’ demonstration. Sil denies intentional wrongdoing, but he was suspended by the Directors Association of Eastern India.

The Supreme Court instructed the CBI to file an updated status report on the investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata by September 17. It criticized the West Bengal government for mishandling evidence and noted that an ongoing doctors’ strike, protesting the incident, has resulted in 23 deaths.
