• A meeting of the alliance in Mumbai to iron out details has reportedly been cancelled. So has the meeting of outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
• Sources say Eknath Shinde is heading to his village in Satara and the meetings will be held after his return. His sudden plan sparked speculation that he is unhappy about the government formation talks.
• Eknath Shinde’s announcement leaving the Chief Minister decision to the BJP cleared the way for a smooth change at the top. Devendra Fadnavis, who led the BJP to a record victory, is set to be chief minister for the third time, sources say.
• After the meeting with Mr Shah, Mr Shinde called the discussions “good and positive”. He said the decision on the next chief minister of Maharashtra will be taken up in another meeting of the Mahayuti coalition in the state capital. He had also reporters that he would not be an obstacle in the government formation in the state and abide by the decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mr Shah.
• There is a consensus on the chief ministerial and deputy chief ministerial posts, say sources, but the allocation of some ministerial berths remains unresolved.
• Sources have told NDTV that the current formula of one chief minister with two deputies will likely continue. But Mr Shinde is reportedly not keen on a deputy role. Sanjay Shirsat, an MLA and spokesperson of the Shiv Sena, told PTI: “He is unlikely to be a deputy chief minister. It does not befit a person who has already served as chief minister.”
• The BJP is likely to keep the Home portfolio and Ajit Pawar’s NCP may retain Finance. Eknath Shinde’s Sena will likely get the urban development and public works departments.
• While the BJP is likely to get 22 Cabinet berths, the Shiv Sena and NCP will get 12 and 9 portfolios respectively, sources said.
• The oath ceremony is likely on December 2, according to sources.
• The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance scripted a landslide victory in the recent state assembly elections by winning 230 seats in the 288-member House. The BJP bagged 132 Assembly seats, while Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP won 57 and 41 seats respectively.

Businessman Raj Kundra’s house and offices were raided today by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) today as part of a money laundering probe related to the production and distribution of pornographic content through mobile apps. The ED’s operation involved searches at around 15 premises, including Mr Kundra’s Juhu residence

Mr Kundra, the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, has been under the ED’s lens for months, following allegations that he was a key player in a scheme that monetised explicit content streamed via the now-defunct ‘Hotshots’ application. The app, previously available on platforms like Apple and Google Play, was removed after public and legal scrutiny.

The ED’s case alleges that Mr Kundra utilised his company, Armsprime Media Pvt Ltd, to manage the app’s operations. It is further claimed that Armsprime facilitated the sale of the app to UK-based Kenrin Pvt Ltd, which became instrumental in uploading and streaming explicit content.

The app allegedly lured aspiring actors under the pretext of web series auditions. However, the actors were reportedly coerced into filming semi-nude or nude scenes against their wishes. The police claimed that Mr Kundra’s phone contained WhatsApp chats evidencing financial transactions linked to Kenrin, including discussions about selling 119 adult films for USD 1.2 million.

Mr Kundra has denied wrongdoing, claiming no active involvement in producing pornographic content. He has stated that he was falsely implicated and called himself a “scapegoat” in the case.

Mr Kundra’s legal battles are not new. In 2021, he was arrested by Mumbai police in a related case involving obscene material and was later released on bail. 

The ED is also probing his alleged involvement in a crypto-ponzi scheme spearheaded by Amit Bhardwaj, the mastermind behind the Gain Bitcoin scam. Earlier this year, the ED attached assets worth Rs 98 crore belonging to Mr Kundra and Ms Shetty, claiming they were acquired using proceeds from illicit activities, including the Gain Bitcoin scam.
