‘Not Afraid To Fight’: Dune Prophecy Stars Open Up On Their Characters For The First Time; DETAILS Inside

Since the skyrocketing success of the Dune franchise, its prequel series, Dune: Prophecy, has become one of the most anticipated projects among fans. The narrative, which follows Bene Gesserit’s origin story, has a star-studded cast that includes Emily Watson, Jessica Barden, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Mark Strong, Jade Anouka, Chris Mason, Jodhi May, Josh Heuston, Tabu, and Charithra Chandran.

In New York, speaking with CBR, cast members Jessica Barden (Valya Harkonnen), Chloe Lea (Lila), Sarah-Sofie Boussnina (Princess Ynez), and Josh Heuston (Constantine Corrino) spoke about the upcoming prequel series. “So, I play the younger version of [Emily Watson’s] Valya Harkonnen,” Barden said.

She further described her character as extremely angry “She is like, ‘I want my family – we’re supposed to be in charge.’ Am I allowed to swear? She’s like, ‘F*** this sh*t,” she added. While Barden’s character has a bold front, Lea’s character is an outcast and “a bit of a loner.” She’s a teenager, so organically, she’s somewhat lost and sad about her fate.

“She doesn’t know where she comes from. It’s a big question for her,” Lea added. So throughout the series, she’ll work towards finding her purpose in life and what she could do to benefit the the sisterhood. Boussnina revealed that her character Princess Ynez is “the heir to the Golden Lion Throne” which comes with its responsibilities.

Hence, the young woman is pressured by the traditions of the sisterhood, which she must abide by, and the responsibility she must shoulder when the time comes. “When we meet her in the show, she is ready to live up to that title. She wants to be the future ruler, but she wants to do it her way, which is very much the character,” the actress added.

Despite being a young budding royalty, her character has a stand of her own which she is not afraid to fight for. “She’s very much her own. She’s independent, she’s rebellious,” Boussnina added.

As for Heuston’s character, he struggles between living up to his father’s expectations while fighting his under urges, be it drugs, alcohol, or sex. “So, he’s kind of just battling between those two things,” he added.

Dune: Prophecy is set to premiere on Max on November 17.

Justin Baldoni Claims Gina Rodriguez Stood Beside Him As Pillar Amidst It Ends With Us Controversies; Calls Her ‘Family’

It Ends with Us was one of the highly anticipated movies of the season. While it managed to attract viewers to the theaters, it also captured the eyeballs of the audience over the controversies and rifts revolving around the film.

Justin Baldoni, the actor-director of the movie, who allegedly had different opinions from Blake Lively, who played the lead in the movie, claimed that Gina Rodriguez stood by him during the difficult times.

The Jane the Virgin star described Baldoni as her brother in an older interview with People Magazine. She went on to reveal that the director was the one person from the industry with whom she mostly kept in touch.

Meanwhile, in the latest conversation between Baldoni and the media outlet, the filmmaker stated that Rodriguez was one of the people from his circle to show up for him in the difficult times.

The actor shared, “She really showed up for me.” He added, “That was really sweet.” Baldoni went on to state for his sister, “That was really sweet. She’s a sweetheart. She’s family forever.”

The controversies surrounding Colleen Hoover’s novel adaptation were major about Lively and the director facing creative differences, and the alleged involvement of Ryan Reynolds in the movie was a little too much.

He said, “I’d love to work with her. She’s so talented.” Baldoni went on to add, “I hope it’s a movie that she directs. She’s a fantastic director, so I would love to act in something that she directs.”

When asked about a little Jane the Virgin reunion, the actor gave hopes to the people by revealing that the cast would definitely come together for a reunion at some point in the future.

Meanwhile, the show ran for 5 seasons, and the episodes are available to stream on Prime Video.

Venom: The Last Dance Movie Review: Tom Hardyâs show all the way

Venom: The Last Dance Movie Review: Tom Hardyâs show all the way

Venom: The Last Dance introduces us to super villain Knull. In the comics, Knull has beaten the Silver Surfer, the Avengers and the X-Men without breaking sweat. It led to a cooperation between several superhero teams to finally subdue him. He’s an immortal who can use darkness to form weapons and is also the creator of the symbiotes. It’s rumoured that he’s going to be the next supervillain of the Marvel universe. With Kang no longer in the work for the future Marvel films, Knull could be the perfect replacement. The most direct setup for Knull stems from Thor: Love and Thunder. The weapon wielded by its central antagonist, Gorr the God Butcher, is All-Black the Necrosword, which was built by Knull. And in Spider-Man: No Way Home’s post-credits scene, we catch a glimpse of a tiny bit of black symbiote. Leading to the speculation that Marvel can be cutting a deal with Sony to bring Venom into the MCU.

Venom: The Last Dance showcases the extraordinary talents of director Kelly Marcel and actor Tom Hardy, crafting a film that is both entertaining and audacious in its approach to the symbiote saga. Marcel, in her directorial debut, navigates the chaotic narrative with a deft hand, blending irreverent humour with action-packed sequences that keep viewers engaged from start to finish. One of the film’s most hilarious scenes is when Eddie and Venom meet San Francisco convenience store owner Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu) in Vegas. That allows for an interlude in which Mrs. Chen and Venom dance to ABBA’s Dancing Queen. Another sequence involves meeting a goofy family who have a fetish for aliens. The family takes them to Area 51 in their beaten down camper van, where they come across a super secret project involving symbiotes. The finale involving a group of benevolent symbiotes bonding with a group of random humans to defeat minions will have you clamouring for more.

Tom Hardy delivers a standout performance as Eddie Brock, seamlessly embodying the character’s conflicted nature. His chemistry with the symbiote is electric, resulting in moments of hilarity and heart that elevate the film. The duo’s drunken escapades and outrageous misadventures—like Venom fusing with a horse—showcase Hardy’s comedic timing and the playful tone Marcel masterfully maintains.

While the film features a roster of talented actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor and Juno Temple, their roles sometimes feel underutilised. However, Marcel’s focus on the central duo ensures that the story remains tightly woven around Eddie and Venom’s antics, which are the film’s true heart.

Ultimately, Venom: The Last Dance is a fun-filled ride that perfectly balances humour and action, thanks to Kelly Marcel’s directorial prowess and Tom Hardy’s magnetic performance. It’s a film that not only entertains but also opens up exciting avenues for future storytelling in the superhero multiverse.
