‘We Just Need A Little Bit More Time’: Shawn Mendes Postpones Fifth Album Release While Unvealing New Concert Film

Shawn Mendes announced on Wednesday, October 9, via X that his upcoming fifth studio album will now be released on November 15 instead of its original October 18 release date.

“My team and I have decided to push the album release date to November 15th,” Mendes wrote in a statement that was also shared on his Instagram stories. “We just need a little bit more time to bring some new inspirations and ideas to life.” The Señorita singer continued, “I love you guys; thank you for being so patient; I can’t wait to see you guys at the next few shows.”

In another announcement, the singer shared that he will be releasing a concert film titled For Friends and Family Only on November 14, a night before his LP drops. “This was my first time performing the album and my first show back in 2 years,” Mendes wrote in an Instagram statement that also included a clip from the movie. “It was really beautiful. I really wanted you all to be able to experience it.”

In the clip, the singer addresses his fans from the stage, saying being in his element while performing for them made him feel extraordinarily calm for a reason beyond his comprehension. He thanked the crowd for being at one of his shows in the clip towards the end.

According to its synopsis, the movie was filmed at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York. The concert film promises to treat the audience to an intimate look at Mendes’ creative journey that shaped his music and the inspiration and personal stories behind each track from the singer’s upcoming record.

Mendes announced his fifth album on July 31 and has since dropped multiple singles, including Nobody Knows, Why Why Why, and Isn’t That Enough. At the time the project was announced, a press release noted that the album marks Mendes’ “most musically intimate and lyrically honest work to date.”

Mendes also gave his fans insight into the recording process for the album via an Instagram post. The singer expressed that his return to the studio after a long break, which he took to prioritize his mental health, was healing in every sense, and that he is very proud of the “12 beautiful finished songs” he was able to make.

For those who may not know, Mendes postponed and then canceled his 2022 world tour to focus on his mental well-being. Earlier this month, the singer looked back on the experience during an appearance on life coach Jay Shetty’s podcast, saying the tour cancellation was the “hardest” and “greatest” decision he’s ever made.

Tickets for For Friends and Family Only will go on sale on October 24 at 7 a.m. PT / 10 a.m. ET on FriendsandFamilyFilm.com.

Israel Tank Hits UN ‘Blue Helmet’ Base In Lebanon, Nations Condemn Attack

Israel admitted its forces opened fire in the area, saying Hezbollah militants operated near UN posts. Italy, a major contributor of troops to the UN peacekeeping force, said the acts “could constitute war crimes” while the US said it was “deeply concerned.”
The peacekeeping mission last week rejected Israel’s demands to “relocate” from some of its positions in south Lebanon, where the IDF has been hitting what it claimed were Hezbollah targets. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, or UNIFIL, has some 10,000 peacekeepers deployed in south Lebanon. It has been calling for a ceasefire since fighting escalated between the IDF and the militant group Hezbollah on September 23.
The UN mission confirmed two peacekeepers were injured after an IDF Merkava tank fired a shell towards an observation tower at the UNIFIL headquarters in south Lebanon’s Naqura, directly hitting it.
The peacekeepers did not suffer serious injuries, “but they remain in hospital,” it said. They are Indonesian nationals, a UNIFIL spokesperson said. Indonesia is also a major contributor of troops to the UNIFIL.
Indonesia’s UN ambassador Hari Prabowo said the incident “clearly demonstrates how Israel positioned itself above international law, above impunity and above our shared values of peace.” Israel claimed its military “opened fire in the area” of the UNIFIL base after telling UN forces to seek shelter.
Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto said the attack and other incidents that the UNIFIL blames on Israel “could constitute war crimes”, and asked for an explanation because “it was not a mistake”. The Defence Minister described the shooting as intolerable, and filed protests with his Israeli counterpart and the country’s ambassador to Italy.
The White House said it was “deeply concerned”. “We understand Israel is conducting targeted operations near the Blue Line to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure… it is critical that they not threaten UN peacekeepers’ safety and security,” the White House said.
Spain’s foreign ministry said it “strongly condemns the Israeli firing that hit UNIFIL headquarters” which it called a “grave violation of international law”. Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris, whose country has about 370 troops in the mission, said “any firing in the vicinity of UNIFIL troops or facilities is reckless and must stop”.
UNIFIL headquarters and nearby positions “have been repeatedly hit,” the mission said. On Wednesday, “IDF soldiers deliberately fired at and disabled” perimetre-monitoring cameras around a position, UNIFIL added.
The head of UN peacekeeping Jean-Pierre Lacroix said peacekeepers were at “serious risk” and that by Sunday 300 Blue Helmets were temporarily relocated to larger bases “with the movement of another 200 planned.” UNIFIL’s footprint in the most affected positions would be slashed by 25 percent, he said. “The safety and security of peacekeepers is now increasingly in jeopardy,” Mr Lacroix told the UN Security Council oln Thursday.

Man Threatens Acid Attack On Woman Over Her Clothes. Employer Fires Him

A man in Bengaluru was fired by his employer and a case was filed against him for threatening to throw acid on a woman. The woman’s husband had complained that his wife was warned by the accused, Nikith Shetty, over her choice of clothes.

“This person is threatening to throw acid on my wife’s face for her choice of clothes. Please take immediate action against this person to prevent any incident from happening,” Shahbaz Ansar, a journalist at The Indian Express’ vertical InUth, said in a post on X tagging the authorities in Karnataka.

After social media users traced Nikith Shetty to his workplace, action began. The company where he worked in a post on Instagram said he has been fired and a case has been filed against him.

“We are deeply saddened to address a serious incident involving one of our employees, Nikith Shetty, who made a threatening statement regarding another individual’s choice of clothing. This behaviour is absolutely unacceptable and goes against the core values we uphold at Etios Services,” the company said.

“As a company committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment, we have taken immediate action. Nikith’s employment has been terminated for a period of five years, and we have filed a case against him to ensure accountability for his actions,” said Etios Digital Services, a full-stack marketing agency.

Many thanked the company for taking action against the man who threatened a woman to attack her with acid just because he did not like her choice of clothing.

Mr Ansar also posted his thanks for the support he received.

“The man who threatened my wife Khyati Shree with acid attack lost his job. The company acted promptly and fired him. Thanks to everyone who made this happen,” he said.

Section 124 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) addresses crimes involving attacks using acid or similar substances. The section imposes severe penalties for causing permanent damage or severe harm through acid attacks, including life imprisonment and fines to cover the victim’s medical expenses.
