Pakistan has appointed its current ISI chief, Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik, as the new National Security Adviser amidst escalating tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack. This marks the first instance of a serving ISI director general holding both crucial positions simultaneously. The notification stated, “Lt Gen Muhammad Asim Malik HI (M), DG (I), shall hold the additional charge of the National Security Adviser, with immediate effect.”
