Bollywood has been having a very fashionable couple of weeks. After the launch of Jio World Plaza in the city, a festive wind caught hold of tinsel town and hasn’t let go yet. Diwali 2023 continues to be celebrated this week, which means the ethnic fashion streak will follow. While we’ve witnessed a glorious amount of glitz and glam from Bollywood celebrities this festive season, Disha Patani and Mouni Roy are set to change that. The besties were spotted at multiple star parties this week but it seems like they also headed home for a quiet gathering spent in delightfully breezy ethnic looks.

In photos shared by both Mouni and Disha, the actresses are snapped with their furry friends photobombing them. Mouni donned a crisp white salwar kameez suit with a blue floral print and narrow silver foil borders with the dupatta draped across her shoulders. Disha, who is seated beside her, is wearing a contemporary take on a lehenga. It comprises of a teal and mustard printed skirt with a tied waist detail which she paired with a low cut printed blouse having short draped sleeves. Disha’s complexion glowed gorgeously and she left her hair loose in natural curls.

As their little party at home continued, Mouni did a quick outfit change. In another picture also featuring a friend in the frame, Mouni slipped into a lime green salwar kameez suit with a narrow gold border that looked zesty as ever. In both photos, the actress sported a fresh-faced beauty look that paired wonderfully with her casual ethnic quotient.

Diwali style can be super chic when delightfully casual too; Mouni and Disha are proof.

The BJP is on the defensive in Madhya Pradesh after a video that seems to show Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar‘s son negotiating a ‘deal’ worth Rs 500 crore surfaced Monday.

This is the second video this month; last week a video seemed to show Devendra Singh Tomar, whose father is among the big-names fielded by the BJP for the 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election, discussing three separate deals – worth Rs 18 crore, Rs 21 crore, and Rs 100 crore.

Asked about the video, Mr Tomar told reporters in Gwalior, “We should not waste time on fake talks”. His party also dismissed the videos, which have been heavily criticised by the Congress.

The BJP’s state boss, VD Sharma, has called the video “fake’ and accused the opposition party, lacking any real issue to raise, of releasing the clips to unsettle voters ahead of polling on Friday.

“A complaint has been made and the video is being investigated. Elections cannot be won with these tactics. The Congress itself is deeply immersed in corruption…” Mr Sharma declared. He claimed that Rs 281 crore had been seized by officials after the 15 months that the Congress was in power.

Mr Tomar’s son has also called the video a fake and has registered a police case.

The Congress – battling corruption allegations of its own in Chhattisgarh, another poll-bound state – has demanded a suo motu probe by the Enforcement Directorate, and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to “break their silence” in this issue.

Showing reporters the second video, party spokesperson Ragini Nayak declared the BJP’s state government had “become synonymous with 50 per cent commission”; this is similar to the “40 per cent Sarkar” corruption jibe the party threw at the BJP in Karnataka ahead of the election in May.

The Congress routed the BJP in the southern state, winning 135 of its 224 seats.

“Give a clarification (about the Devendra Singh Tomar video) or dismiss it. If they (the BJP) don’t, then it will be construed that this has their patronage and involvement,” Ms Nayak declared.

“If the video is fake… it must be found out who is defaming the Union Minister’s son.”

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has also pounced on the Tomar videos.

“The BJP has broken all records of corruption. They have a minister… his name is Tomar and this video is of his son. He is saying Rs 10 crore will go here, Rs 20 crore there, 100 crore… Whose money is he talking about? It is the people’s money,” Mr Gandhi said at a rally in state capital Bhopal

He also declared Madhya Pradesh had become India’s “corruption capital” under BJP rule.

The Congress leader underlined the party’s call to investigate the videos. “… Tomar’s son, who is stealing money of farmers, the poor and labourers without hiding it, without fear and openly on a video call. Has Modiji taken any action? Has ED, CBI, IT department taken action,” he asked.

A lion that escaped from an Italian circus has been taking well-deserved naps to recover from a Saturday night out in the seaside town of Ladispoli that sparked panic before authorities managed to recapture him.

The adult lion, named “Kimba”, escaped from the “Rony Roller” circus on Saturday afternoon and was on the loose for around seven hours before it was sedated with an aesthetic dart. Footage and pictures, some taken by locals, went viral and showed the lion roaming around the town streets, skirting houses and fences, and standing in front of a carabinieri police car.

Local authorities are investigating how the lion managed to get out of its metal enclosure. “What happened is very strange…All we can say is that a lion does not have the ability to open a latch and break a lock,” Rony Vassallo, the animal supervisor and trainer at the circus told Reuters.

In a Facebook post on Monday, local mayor Alessandro Grando wrote that he would ask council experts to check if there were legal grounds to revoke the permits for the “Rony Roller” circus. The travelling circus was scheduled to stay in Ladipsoli between November 9-19.

Some locals expressed solidarity with Kimba. “I am sorry because it is in prison. It should be in its environment, the savannah,” said Ladispoli resident Giuseppe Altavilla.
