Display Names, Phone Numbers: Vendors At Delhi Vegetable Market Told

Street vendors at a vegetable market in Delhi’s Najafgarh will have to display their names on carts in a move the local councillor and the market association claimed was aimed at preventing “illegal” Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants from selling produce there.

The market association has also directed the vendors to display their phone numbers on nameplates on the carts, which will have a unique “thela number” issued by it.

The decision to implement this plan was made in a meeting of the market association with the local councillor earlier this month, following complaints of unidentified sellers, suspected to be illegal migrants from Bangladesh and Myanmar, selling produce.

Local BJP Councillor Amit Kharkhari said the move was not meant to discriminate against anyone or any particular community but for security.

Nazafgarh Vyapar Mandal President Santosh Rajput told PTI, “We have asked all street vendors in the area to submit identity documents such as Aadhaar for verification.” This record will be maintained by the market association and submitted to the local police as well as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) for security purposes, he added.

The association said there were around 300 street vendors who sold farm produce in the market area.

There are plans to complete the verification process by November 20, Rajput said.

“With this move, we aim to improve the system in the vegetable market. If the names and phone numbers of vendors are displayed on their carts, any buyer with a grievance can report it to us. This will also help us identify illegal migrants selling goods. We will forward their details to the MCD and the police,” he said.

Anyone who does not have a nameplate will not be allowed to sell their produce in the market, he added.

Kharkhari said the decision to implement the action was taken unanimously by the market association and locals during a meeting at his office.

“This is not being done to discriminate against anyone or any particular community. This is just for security. We have received several complaints about unauthorised persons operating in the market. Keeping this in mind, the decision was made and is being implemented,” he said.

‘I’m Paraphrasing But…’: Adam Brody Opens Up On How His Kiss With Kristen Bell Was Described In The Script

After the duo’s chemistry in the recently popular show, Nobody Wants This, Adam Brody and Kristen Bell have been among the most loved onscreen couples.

While Brody played the hot Rabbi Noah, Bell donned the character of Joanne. As much as the talk has been about the show’s storyline, fans are also gushing about the first kiss shared by the characters on screen.

Brody, in conversation with People Magazine, shared the process behind filming the kiss in episode two of season one. The actor claimed that as he was rehearsing his lines with Bell ahead of the shot being ready, he read something about the kiss being the greatest of all times.

The O.C. star shared, “I’m paraphrasing, but it said something to the effect of, “It’s the greatest of all time.'” Further recalling the scene, he recited, “‘Put your ice cream down;’ ‘put the bag down’ was in there. I think ‘he touches her face.’ I mean, I’m just happy that I got to be part of an apparently memorable kiss. it’s a very cinematic thing.”

However, the actor went on to joke that being an excellent onscreen kisser has not helped him get out of the household chores. He revealed that the scene, or even playing the lead in the Netflix series, has never raised his status in front of his wife or kids.

Meanwhile, Nobody Wants This revolves around a Jewish Rabbi who falls for a girl. With religious challenges in their way, they figure out solutions to living together. The first season turned out to be a hit, and the streaming platform has renewed the show for season 2.

The Amateur Trailer: Rami Malek’s CIA Cryptographer Sets Out To Avenge His Wife’s Death In Terrorist Attack

The Amateur trailer begins with Rami Malek’s character, Charles Heller, a cryptographer working for the CIA, living a happy and indifferent life with his wife, played by Rachel Brosnahan. In the first few seconds of the trailer, he seems like a regular corporate employee who sends cryptic information to the CIA without indulging in its details.

“You ever wonder what they do with all the stuff you dig up for them? You never wonder?” Brosnahan asks Malek in the trailer. “That’s not my job. It’s the CIA I gotta trust that they’ll make the right call. Maybe it’s better not to know,” the latter replies. After a farewell moment between the couple, the scene cuts to Malek finding out about his wife’s murder through a news channel. That’s when things start to go south!

Devastated by his wife’s death, Heller, who’s always been a computer geek, decided to go after a terrorist group to avenge her death, hence the title. Despite the CIA trying to convince him to let them handle the case, he demands to be involved and requests “mission-specific training, cash, and a new identity.”

The amateur learns how to shoot and kill but seems to fail miserably. “You can’t do what I do no matter how much I train you. You’re just not a killer, Charlie,” the trainer, played by Laurence Fishburne, tells the protagonist. However, Malek’s character uses his geekiness to develop cunning techniques to get back at her wife’s murderers.

The film by Slow Horses director James Hawes is based on the 1981 novel by Robert Littell. It follows a “CIA cryptographer, who manages to blackmail his agency into training him to let him go after a group of terrorists who killed his wife in London,” as per the official synopsis.

This is Malek’s second action thriller after the 2021 film The Little Things. He starred in the Daniel Craig adventure action film No Time to Die that same year. He also made a memorable appearance in the Oscar-winning film Oppenheimer in 2023.

The Amateur will hit the theaters on April 11, 2025.
