George RR Martin Says THIS Character From Fire & Blood May ‘Never’ Appear In House Of The Dragon Season 3

George R.R. Martin recently revealed a major spoiler but assured series followers that it won’t have much impact on their viewing experience. However, for book readers, it might be disappointing. Whether it’s Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, the creators have taken liberties in tweaking certain storylines from their respective source materials.

In a now-deleted blog post, Martin confirmed that one of the major characters from Fire & Blood will not make it into the series adaptation—Maelor Targaryen, the youngest son of Aegon and Helaena. “If you have never read Fire & Blood, maybe it does not matter, because all I am going to ‘spoil’ here are things that may NEVER happen on the series,” the author wrote.

Book readers were surprised to see Maelor MIA but hoped that they’d see him in future seasons. But now Martin has dashed those hopes, confirming that he may “never” appear on the show. “The prince’s birth was no longer just going to be pushed back to season 3. He was never going to be born at all. The younger son of Aegon and Helaena would never appear,” he added.

In the books, Maelor played a crucial role especially during the infamous Blood and Cheese incident. When the former butcher and a rat-catcher enter Queen Helaena’s room, they ask her to choose which son to spare, Maelor or Jaehaerys. She chooses the latter but they kill the other son and tell Maelor that his mother wanted him dead.

This character also played a key role in Helaena’s tragic fate and ascent to madness in the books. Even if Maelor were to appear in the coming seasons, his gruesome death would have been difficult to portray on screen.

When Rhaenyra *book spoiler alert* attacks King’s landing and takes the throne, Maelor is sent away with Rickard Thorne to Oldtown while Helaena’s daughter Jaehara was entrusted with Willis Fell, who took her to the Baratheons. Jaehara reaches the Storm’s End safely but Rickard Throne is discovered as a Kingsuard in a tavern called the Hogs Head.

Despite fighting bravely, he doesn’t make it past the Bitterbridge. After Thorne’s death “Prince Maelor is torn from his arms… and then, sadly, ripped to pieces by the mob fighting over the boy and the huge reward that Rhaenyra has offered for his capture and return,” Martin writes in the book.

House of the Dragon season 1 and 2 are now streaming on Jio Cinema.

‘I Really Wanted…’: Elin Hilderbrand Wished Liev Schreiber Would Play THIS Character in Perfect Couple

The Nicole Kidman starrer The Perfect Couple has made its way to Netflix on September 5. While the episodes are being cherished by the audience, Elin Hilderbrand picked out the perfect casting for the show. While in a conversation with People Magazine, the author claimed that she wanted Liev Schreiber to play the role of Tag.

Exactly as the creator of the story wanted, Schreiber has been cast to play Tag, the husband of Greer Garrison, played by Nicole Kidman. The writer shared that she had the actor in mind even before the X-Men star was called for the part.

In her interview with the media portal, Hilderbrand revealed, “I did give a wishlist specifically.” She added, “Well, specifically once I knew Nic was playing Greer, I really wanted Liev to do it.” The author further stated that she has been a fan of Ray Donovan, and has loved the actor’s performance in the show.

Hilderbrand shared, “I was a huge Ray Donovan fan; he’s one of my favorite actors. And I sent my wish to the showrunner.” She went on to say, “And she said, ‘I don’t know.’ And then a few weeks later, she goes, ‘Elin, you might get your wish.’ And she didn’t say in regard to what, but I was hoping that’s what she was talking about.”

The Perfect Couple is Hilderbrand’s first novel to be adapted for screens. When asked for the reason, the author said that it might have been the murder mystery aspect of the story, that attracted the audience.

The writer confessed, “It’s so funny because I thought, ‘OK, I’m going to try and write a murder mystery. And I had never done it before and I didn’t follow any kind of formula.” She added, “I didn’t plot it out ahead of time. I did not know whodunnit until two-thirds of the way through the book.”

Speaking of the script being a screening material, the author claimed that suspense, thrills, and a bit of romance, according to her, make for the perfect show material. Hilderbrand elaborated to say, that even she didn’t know the culprit until she finished writing 2/3rd of the book.

The writer explained, “I thought it was one person, and then two-thirds of the way through the book, I thought, ‘No, it’s not that person. It’s this person.’ And so I surprised even myself.”

The Perfect Couple, apart from Kidman and Schreiber, includes Eve Hewson, Meghan Fahy, Ishaan Khatter, and Billy Howle, among others. The six-episode series is available to stream on Netflix.

Covid Funds Misappropriated, Files Missing: Fresh “Scam” In Karnataka

The MUDA scam that had been occupying headlines in Karnataka has been pushed aside by a new scam – alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of crores meant to fight Covid during the BJP rule in the state led by then Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa – raising allegations of tit-for-tat scams. A preliminary report on the matter by Justice John Michael  D’Cunha was discussed by the cabinet today, which apparently mentioned many other irregularities.

Of these, sources said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made three crucial observations at the meeting.

He said the judge has made very serious observations about hundreds of crores of rupees being misappropriated. The report has also said that there are many files missing that weren’t placed before him despite his repeated requests, sources said.

The overall spending during Covid in the state was to the tune of Rs 13,000 crore. While no figure was mentioned officially, sources indicated that around Rs 1000 crore was siphoned off.

The report is expected to be finalized within the next six months and can even be tabled during the winter session of parliament. The government has extended the tenure of the committee by six months, so it can submit the final report.

Sources said the 1000-page multiple-volume interim report will now be analysed by officers and submitted to the government in less than a month.

Asked about the scam versus scam allegations, Law and parliamentary affairs minister HK Patil said it is “unfortunate” that whenever an important report comes it is termed eye for an eye.

“MUDA is less than two months old. The Cunha committee was appointed a year back. How can you bring that analogy here? It was an administrative measure”.

The Cunha report is seen as a boon to the Congress and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, whom the BJP has been trying to corer over the MUDA scam. Mr Siddaramaiah has gone to court challenging the Governor’s clearance to prosecute him in the matter.

The alleged scam is linked to irregularities in land allocation by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority or MUDA. There have been allegations that the allocation of compensatory land parcels to BM Parvathi, Siddaramaiah’s wife, far exceeds the value of the land given in exchange.
