Six decades after dowry was banned in India, a 28-year-old woman living less than an hour from national capital Delhi was burnt alive, allegedly by her husband and mother-in-law, over a demand of getting Rs 36 lakh from her parents as dowry.

The accused, Delbert Cornish, was taken into police custody in Mountain Home and then moved to Canyon County jail on Tuesday.

Amit Shah clarified his departure from Gujarat during the Sohrabuddin Sheikh case. He stated he offered to leave after a court expressed concerns about evidence tampering. Shah also defended the government’s bill regarding the removal of lawmakers facing serious charges. He highlighted his own resignation upon receiving a CBI summons. The bill is currently under review by a parliamentary committee.
