Mirzapur 3’s Rasika Dugal recalls getting typecast for crying scenes: ‘There was a time I could read the script backward…’

Actress Rasika Dugal, who recently appeared in Kay Kay Menon’s web series, Shekhar Home, has worked on a handful of projects in Bollywood and OTT space. Rasika is best known for her role as Beena Tripathi in the crime thriller series, Mirzapur. The actress was once tired of being typecast as a crier on-screen and is quite happy that she is now being offered diverse roles.

During a new interview with Indian Express, Rasika Dugal recalled the times when she was typecast for crying in her projects. Rasika shared that the scripts she got would feature at least two crying scenes for her.

“There was a time I could read the script backwards and know that in the last ten pages, there will be at least two crying scenes definitely for me,” the Mirzapur actress said.

When asked if the situation has changed when it comes to her roles in scripts, Rasika stated that a “little of femme fatale has happened” in her career.

The Manto actress credited her success to the OTT which boomed in recent times. She expressed that her films including the smaller ones didn’t get the releases that they deserved.

Rasika cited an example of Mirzapur to back her statement that she is now able to access a wide audience to showcase her work.

Earlier, in an exclusive GRWM video with Pinkvilla, Rasika Dugal spilled the beans about carrying a portable hand fan during the shoot on the sets including Mirzapur.

Rasika also recalled a sweet memory with her Mirzapur co-star Pankaj Tripathi by saying that both of them have a picture together. Rasika quipped that the actress lent him a fan while getting clicked and she called it her “fan moment” with Pankaj.

Apart from Mirzapur, Rasika Dugal appeared in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s 2018 biographical film, Manto in which she played the role of his on-screen wife. Rasika also worked in series like Delhi Crime, Made in Heaven, A Suitable Boy, OK Computer, and others.

Her recent web series, Shekhar Home, premiered on Jio Cinema on August 14 this year. The actress is also known for her role in Tisca Chopra and Adil Hussain-starrer short film, Chutney.

Trigger Warning: This article contains mention of death

Shannen Doherty, who was known to host the popular podcast Let’s Be Clear, passed away at 54 after battling breast cancer for over a decade. After a month since the actress’ death, her mother, Rosa Doherty, has revealed that she will keep the podcast going.

While making an appearance on the new episode of Let’s Be Clear, the Beverly Hills, 90210 actress’ mother introduced herself and shared her gratitude for the audience, which showed love to the late Hollywood star. Rosa said that she is grateful for the loyalty Doherty’s fans have shown over the years.

Moreover, the veteran actress’ mother described what the podcast meant to the Charmed star. She said, “This podcast meant so much to Shannen because it allowed her to tell her story and tell her truth.”

The elder Doherty added, “Over the years, there’s been so many stories and untruths and things mixed up that finally, she says, ‘I wanna do this, and I have so many people that have followed me over the years and have supported me, and I just want to give them the opportunity to hear what my life really is.'”

Rosa Doherty shared, “It meant so much to me because I got to watch her do this when it was so special for her and [she] needed it.” She continued to say, “It helped her so much in everything that she was going through, and to hear back from all of you in the questions that you presented to her in podcasts when she was answering questions. That was important.”

While hosting her first episode of Let’s Be Clear, Doherty invited one of her daughter’s closest friends, Anna Marie Kortright. While speaking with the guest, Doherty’s mother talked about the grief that followed the death of the Heathers actress. Kortright, too, revealed, “I have yet to really cry. She said,  “When somebody sees me out, and they’re being very kind, and they wanna come up and hug me.” But the thing that Rosa says to them is, “You can hug me, but you cannot cry. Shraddha Kapoor recalls funny incident of monkeys stealing her Bakarwadi during shoot: ‘Stree 2 aur bandaro ka saamna’

Shraddha Kapoor’s recently released movie Stree 2 is currently doing great business at the box office. The film has taken the country by storm and has already become a blockbuster within three days of its release on August 15. While the audience is thoroughly enjoying the movie, the actress also had fun shooting for it. In fact, she also had some uninvited guests in her hotel room during the shoot.

While talking to Miss Malini Showbiz, the actress opened up about her encounter with some monkeys who entered her hotel room unannounced on the first day. The actress said that she took her favorite snack, bakarwadi, along with her to the location. After checking in, she created a corner dedicated to snacks. Thinking no stranger would barge into her room, she kept the door open. But to her shock, she was pleasantly surprised when a couple of monkeys came in.

They swiftly went to the snack corner and picked up the heavy bag of bhakarwadi. Before she could register what had just happened, the animals went away leaving her in disbelief. Shraddha Kapoor exclaimed that they looked like professional thieves who entered her room as they owned it and took along the heavy bag of snacks effortlessly. “Stree 2 aur bandaron ka saamna hogaya wahan pe,” she said in Hindi mocking the incident.

Earlier this month, the Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar actress was in an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla wherein she revealed why she is so selective about her movies. Kapoor told us, “I think I have the clarity now that I only want to be part of films that really really really excite me, and also the audience. The audience also has a certain expectation of the kind of films that I do and should be doing and the kind of characters I am playing. Jab tak woh feeling nahi aati na ki iss film ka hissa banna hai aur yeh character play karna hai (till I don’t get the feeling of being part of a movie or playing a character), till then, I am ok to wait for the absolute right film and right character to come my way.”

For the unknown, the horror comedy movie also stars Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.
