GV Prakash Kumar has completed filming for his upcoming horror thriller Immortal. The actor and composer announced the update on social media on Monday, confirming that principal photography on the project has officially come to an end.
Directed by Mariyappa Chinna, best known for the 2019 comedy Jackpot, Immortal marks a distinct tonal shift for the filmmaker. This time, he steps into the horror genre with a story that appears to blend psychological unease with creature-feature elements. Kayadu Lohar stars opposite GV Prakash in the female lead.
Although the makers have kept plot details under wraps, the teaser released earlier offered a glimpse into the film’s unsettling world. It introduces GV Prakash’s character as an ordinary man who becomes obsessed with his attractive neighbour. What begins as a romantic fantasy soon spirals into a nightmare, with a terrifying monster seemingly stalking him and blurring the line between desire and delusion.

A familiar creative team behind the supernatural drama
The supporting cast includes TM Karthik, Kumar Natarajan, Lollu Sabha Maaran, Aaditya Kathir, Arshu Maharjan, Pema Tsamchoe and Sunita Shrestha in pivotal roles.
Music for Immortal has been composed by Sam CS, continuing his association with GV Prakash after Siren and Blackmail. While GV Prakash did not appear as an actor in Siren, he had composed the soundtrack, making their creative partnership an increasingly familiar one in Tamil cinema.
The technical crew features Arun Radhakrishnan as cinematographer, San Lokesh as editor, Siva Sankar handling production design, and R Sakthi Saravanan overseeing the action sequences. The film is produced by Arunkumar Dhanasekaran under the AK Film Factory banner. The makers are yet to announce a release date.
GV Prakash has maintained a busy slate as both actor and composer. He was most recently seen in Happy Raj, directed by Maria Raja Elanchezian. His first acting release of 2026 was the direct-to-streaming film Lucky the Superstar. With shooting now wrapped, Immortal enters post-production. Director Venkat Prabhu recently met Tamil Nadu’s newly elected Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, marking a moment that blends cinema with real-world politics. The filmmaker, who collaborated with Vijay on the 2024 spy thriller GOAT, shared glimpses of the meeting on social media, describing it as a significant personal and creative milestone.
What stood out was the symbolic gesture that accompanied the visit. Venkat Prabhu presented what he described as the “first manifestation” of an idea that had earlier existed only within the fictional world of GOAT. The reference traces back to a scene in the film where Vijay’s character drives a car bearing the number plate ‘TN-07-CM-2026’, a detail widely interpreted at the time as a playful nod to the actor’s political ambitions.
Now, with Vijay assuming office as Chief Minister following his electoral victory, that cinematic moment appears to have taken on an unexpected afterlife.
From fiction to fulfilment
Sharing photos from the meeting, Venkat Prabhu wrote, “A history is made. From a thought, to a vision, to this moment. Happy to have met our honourable CM C Joseph Vijay na today and present the very first manifestation of GOAT. This is only the beginning.”
The director’s note frames the meeting as more than a courtesy call. It positions GOAT as a work that, in hindsight, seems to have anticipated a real political shift. While such overlaps between cinema and public life are not uncommon in Tamil Nadu’s political history, the explicit visual cue in GOAT lends this instance a distinct recall value.
The film itself featured Vijay in a dual role, portraying Gandhi, an anti-terrorism operative, and Jeevan, his estranged son. The narrative explored themes of loyalty, identity, and manipulation, with Jeevan turning against his father after being led to believe that Gandhi intends to eliminate him.
Alongside Vijay, the ensemble cast included Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Ajmal Ameer, Premgi Amaren, Laila, and Jayaram in key roles.
For Venkat Prabhu, the meeting appears to close a loop between imagination and reality. For Vijay, it marks another step in a transition that has steadily moved from cinema screens to the political stage.
