Ranchi Man Falls 4 Floors To Death After Lift Malfunctions

A man was found dead in Ranchi after he stepped into thin air through the door of an elevator duct and fell four levels into the basement as the platform hadn’t arrived.

According to Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, “The deceased, identified as Shailesh Kumar died after he fell in the shaft of the lift.”

Giving information about the incident, the SP said, “The deceased on Friday pushed the lift button on the fourth floor to reach the ground floor. After which, the lift door immediately slid open. Unaware of the fact that the platform of the lift hadn’t arrived, Shailesh entered the elevator duct and fell four floors down to ground in the shaft.”

The security guard at the building, Praveen Kumar, said that there were massive noises. Everyone rushed to rescue him, but Shailesh succumbed to his injuries and died on the spot.

The official further said that the lift has been sealed since then. A formal complaint has been lodged at the local police station.

“We are investigating the matter, further details into the matter are awaited,” said the official.

The police in Ghaziabad has arrested three people after a video showing them throwing currency in the air during birthday celebration went viral. The video also showed the three men enjoying fireworks while standing on the roof of a car inside an apartment complex. The incident took place in Rajnagar Extension area of Ghaziabad on Sunday night and the video was posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the apartment owners’ association. The police took cognizance of the video and took action.

Nandgram Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ravi Kumar Singh said the youth used objectionable words and created disturbance in the area due to which they were arrested.

“Taking cognizance of a video related to police station Nandgram in which some people have made a reel while celebrating their birthday, in which they have used objectionable words and are seen creating disturbance, a case has been registered and three people have been arrested. Legal action is in progress,” Mr Singh said.

The 24-second clip shows the three men arguing with the apartment complex residents while standing on the roof of the car and lightning up fireworks. One of them then throws currency notes in the air while all three pose for pictures.

A police car is seen standing behind their vehicle as the youth perform the stunt. 

Earlier this year, a video of a group of men in luxury cars, carrying guns, and drinking alcohol in the middle of the road had gone viral.

The video was shot on the elevated road of Ghaziabad under the Indirapuram police station area. The men also brandished rifles while drinking alcohol, as loud music played from the car.

In May 2023, a dispute over a parking space turned into to a full-blown fight between 10 men in an apartment complex in Indirapuram.

The CCTV footage of the fighting incident went viral on social media platforms. Taking cognizance of the clip, Ghaziabad Police arrested three people in connection with the incident.

Delhi Man Arrested For Beating Wife To Death

A man was arrested after he beat his wife to death in front of their two children in the Roop Nagar area of North Delhi, police said on Monday.

According to Delhi police, “We received information about the incident late Friday night that a man under the influence of alcohol had a fight with his wife over some issue and beat her to death in front of their children.”

Police further said that after the accused beat the victim, she died after her condition deteriorated the same night.

The accused fled the house in the morning but was soon arrested in Bihar after the police received information about the incident and set out to search for him.

“The accused will be brought to Delhi for further investigation. At present, the matter is being probed,” said police.

Further details into the matter are awaited.

In another incident of crime, a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in the Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi.

The deceased had earlier beaten up the accused (a 14-year-old boy) who was looking for an opportunity to take revenge.

Yesterday evening the accused saw the boy in the vegetable market area, where he stabbed him, police said.

It is said that both the boys knew each other and had fought several times in the past. The police have detained the minor accused in the case.
