Chinese President Xi Jinping warned the United States on Saturday not to cross a “red line” in support for Taiwan, but told his counterpart Joe Biden that Beijing was willing to work with the incoming administration of Donald Trump.Biden and Xi met on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Peru, two months before Trump takes office and amid concerns of new trade wars and diplomatic upheaval.China claims Taiwan as its own territory and has refused to rule out using force to seize it, while the United States is the self-ruled island’s main security backer even though it does not recognise Taipei diplomatically.Xi told Biden that the “Taiwan issue, democracy and human rights, pathways and systems, and development interests are China’s four red lines that must not be challenged”, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV.”These are the most important guardrails and safety net for China-US relations,” CCTV reported Xi as saying.”The separatist actions of ‘Taiwan independence’ are incompatible with peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait,” he added.Taiwan’s foreign ministry said Sunday that “China’s ongoing military provocations near Taiwan are the root cause of destroying regional peace and stability and the major threat to global economic prosperity”.

Heaping praise on Shah Rukh Khan, Shalini Passi whose husband Sanjay Passi was the star’s batchmate, shared, “I really admire him. He’s so intelligent and he’s such a kind-hearted, good human being. And what a journey he has had. He has inspired people like nobody else. You wouldn’t find anyone who has inspired audiences who have just started watching movies to someone who is 80. He’s a phenomenon.”

She added, “What I learnt from him is to read. I never read and he ends up reading so many books in one go. I’ve also learnt a lot from the way he is with his kids, his extended family and friends. I’m blessed to have known him and Gauri.”  

Shalini first met the couple when they attended her wedding festivities back in the late ‘90s. Opening up about her friendship with Gauri Khan and her reaction to the show, she shared, “Gauri watched the show. After watching the first few episodes, she called me and said that she loved it and that she was proud of me. All my friends were very nervous, especially people who know me well because I speak my mind, I don’t gossip and my non-confrontational policy.”

Siva’s period drama Kanguva starring Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani released in theatres on Thursday. Since then, Suriya has garnered praise for his performance. At the box office, the film’s earnings have been steady since the opening.

As per Sacnilk.com, Kanguva opened with Rs 24 crore on its release date. On the second day, the film’s earnings stood at Rs 9.25 crore which was a significant decline. As of Day 3, the film raked in Rs 9.50 crore, a slight improvement.

The total box office earnings of Kanguva in India is Rs 42.75 crore as of now. The film’s performance hasn’t been up to the mark given that its estimated budget is reportedly over Rs 350 crore. It remains to be seen how the film will perform in the upcoming days. 

Kanguva revolves around the journey of a warrior in ancient Tamil Nadu. The storyline moves across timelines to deliver an emotional, action-filled story.
