Filming For Ranveer Singhs Pralay To Begin In Australia This Year ?

Ranveer Singh is set to embark on his next project, Pralay. He is reportedly gearing up to start filming for the project, which is being directed by Jay Mehta, later this year. The movie, which has been generating buzz since last year, is set to mark Bollywood’s latest entry into the zombie apocalypse genre.

According to reports, the filming will start in Australia in September. The film is described as a high-stakes project with a production budget of approximately Rs 300 crore, making it one of the most expensive films in Ranveer’s career to date. The makers are reportedly already deep into the pre-production phase in Australia.

On the scope of the film, a report said, “Ranveer will start shooting for the Jay Mehta directorial in the second half of 2026. The shoot is planned in Australia, and he has already kick-started prep. This is a film that requires intense physical and emotional preparation, given the scale and genre.”

The narrative of Pralay will explore the collapse of humanity due to a zombie apocalypse, based on a couple who must do everything in their power to survive. Given the nature of the story, the film is expected to be a visual spectacle. As per reports, the makers are prioritizing technical excellence, with many crew members and supervisors involved who have experience in international projects.

About the technical approach, a statement shared, “Pralay will rely heavily on VFX. Jai and his team are actively working on the screenplay, visual detailing, and the larger zombie universe. Ranveer too has been involved in creative discussions on a day-to-day basis.” Highlighting the unique nature of the project, director Jay Mehta previously told Variety India, “It’s the kind of film that India hasn’t made yet, the kind of film that India hasn’t seen before.”

While Ranveer prepares for this international shoot, there is also speculation around the casting of the female lead, with rumours suggesting Kalyani Priyadarshini may join the project. However, no official confirmation has been made by the team or the actress. If confirmed, this would mark her Bollywood debut after the success of Lokah: Chapter 1.

Exclusive: Pierre Coffin Talks About Recreating 1920s Hollywood in Minions and Monsters

With Minions & Monsters set to hit theatres on July 2 in India, director and longtime Minions’ voice actor Pierre Coffin has opened up about why the film travels back to the 1920s, revealing that the era offered much more than just vintage glamour. The upcoming animated feature, directed by Coffin and written by him alongside Brian Lynch, is the third instalment in the Minions prequel series and the seventh film in the Despicable Me franchise.
Set in 1920, nearly five decades before the events of Minions (2015), the story follows the lovable yellow creatures as they set out to make a monster movie in the heart of Old Hollywood. Speaking about the decision to set the film during the early days of the film industry, Coffin shared that the period’s rapid social and cultural changes made it the perfect backdrop for the story.

The twenties were fascinating because movies were changing, but so was the world around them. There is the excitement of the studios, but there is also everything happening outside them: Prohibition, public protests and women fighting for their rights. All of that gave the story a richer backdrop and helped us make Hollywood feel like a world in transition.”

Speaking about the young actor, Manoj Bajpayee shared, “I met Abhay before The Family Man. I have a gift of gauging if a person is going to go somewhere… Bhagwaan ne aisa diya hai kuch. I had a similar feeling about Kartik Aaryan and Hrithik. I vividly remember Hrithik was shooting for Fiza. The film also featured my wife, Shabana. I was shooting nearby when Pradeep Guha and Khalid asked me to watch one of Hrithik’s takes. The moment I saw him perform, I knew he was going to be a superstar. The rest is history.”
