Protesters in Bangladesh stormed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s residence, forcing her to flee amidst ongoing unrest. Nearly 100 people were killed in violent clashes on Sunday. Hasina, who has been in power since 2009, was evacuated by helicopter after tensions escalated. The critical unrest has resulted in at least 300 casualties since July.

Sources say India has put all borders on high alert amid the unrest in Bangladesh, having faced the issue of illegal immigrants entering the country from Bangladesh for years.

“I would appeal to all citizens of West Bengal to maintain peace and avoid all forms of provocation,” Banerjee told reporters at the West Bengal assembly
