Triptii Dimri Addresses Criticism Over Animal And Stands Firm On Her Choices

Since its theatrical release in December 2023, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal has remained a major topic of conversation, one of the reasons also being the characters that defined its story. Among these was Triptii Dimri, whose role alongside Ranbir Kapoor drew attention and sparked intense public debate. She has now addressed the criticism and trolling she faced after the film’s success.

In a recent interview with India Today, Triptii admitted that while she tries to maintain a stoic facade, the backlash on social media can be difficult to go through. She shared, “It is difficult. I try to put on a strong face sometimes and be like, ‘No, it doesn’t affect me. I don’t get affected, or I am going to push it under the rug’. But it doesn’t work that way, it does somewhere, pinch you.”

Despite the negativity, Triptii remains unapologetic about her involvement in the project. She shared that participating in Animal was a deliberate, personal decision she feels confident about. She said, “It is a film that I did, and I am proud of it. There is nothing about that film that I am not proud of. It is a choice that I made for myself, and I was comfortable with. And I think I am proud of every film that I have done, whether it is Bulbbul or whether it is Qala.”

Triptii also expressed her frustration about the double standards often applied to women in the industry, mentioning that they are frequently subjected to harsher judgment than their male counterparts. She added, “It is not fair, I feel. We are very quick to judge. And only the girl.”

Animal, which featured an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol, concluded with a post-credit scene hinting at a sequel, Animal Park. As she moves forward, Triptii is focusing on her upcoming projects. She will next be seen in Maa Behen, a film that also stars Madhuri Dixit, Ravi Kishan, and Dharna Durga. The movie will release on June 4 on Netflix.

Exclusive: Aamir Khan to Wed Gauri Spratt in Intimate Ceremony on July 5 Deets Revealed

Aamir Khan is getting married again and true to his persona and image, he’s doing it entirely on his own terms.

The 59-year-old actor and his partner Gauri Spratt have decided to formalise their relationship in the most understated way possible, a registered marriage at home, surrounded by just their two families and a handful of close friends. No fanfare, no filmi spectacle. Just a quiet signing, a small gathering, and a new chapter beginning in the same living room where, by all accounts, it has already been unfolding for a while.

According to a source close to the family, Aamir and Gauri have been living together as a family for just over a year now. “They have built a happy, stable life together and simply decided to mark it formally with their families present,” the source told us. The ceremony is set for July 5 and will be held at Aamir Khan’s residence.

Gauri, 47, brings her own quietly remarkable story to this union. She has a seven-year-old son, Quinn, from a previous marriage. And her family history carries a thread that feels almost novelistic in the context of an India-set love story. Her grandfather, Philip Spratt, was a British-born Communist who came to India in the 1920s and ended up fighting for the country’s independence. He was a man who crossed an ocean and chose a cause that wasn’t his by birth but became his by conviction. There’s something fitting about his granddaughter now making India her home too, in the most personal sense of the word.

Both Aamir and Gauri are said to be stepping into this new phase with the full love and support of their respective families, a detail that matters, given how much both sides bring to this table.

Aamir Khan was previously married to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children, Junaid and Ira, and later to filmmaker Kiran Rao. Together, Kiran and Aamir have a son named Azad. His divorce from Kiran in 2021 was handled with the kind of dignity and mutual warmth that became something of a template for how public separations can be done right.

This time, there are no press conferences planned, no announcements choreographed for the cameras. Just two people, two families, and a date marked quietly on the calendar, July 5.

Vijay Antony and Sasiâs Nooru Saami Locks Theatrical Release Date

Vijay Antony and Sasiâs Nooru Saami Locks Theatrical Release Date

Vijay Antony’s upcoming film Nooru Saami has officially locked its theatrical release date. The film, which marks the actor-composer’s reunion with filmmaker Sasi ten years after the success of Pichaikkaran, is set to arrive in cinemas on June 19.

A decade after Pichaikkaran, Vijay Antony reunites with Sasi

The makers have described Nooru Saami as “a journey of blood, sweat, and bonds,” hinting at an emotionally charged story rooted in familial relationships. Based on a true incident, the film is said to explore the powerful connection between a mother and her son, a theme that has often resonated strongly with Tamil cinema audiences.

Interestingly, the title Nooru Saami is borrowed from the popular song of the same name from Pichaikkaran, further strengthening the connection between the two collaborations. While the earlier film went on to become one of Vijay Antony’s most celebrated commercial successes, the new project appears to be taking a more grounded and socially conscious route.

The film stars Swasika as the female lead alongside Vijay Antony. The cast also includes Lijomol Jose and Ajay Dhishan, Vijay Antony’s nephew, in pivotal roles. Sakthi and Kavya Anil are also part of the ensemble.

Supporting actors include Balaji Sakthivel, Munishkanth, Aruldoss, Jenson Dhivakar, Padini Kumar, Bagavathi Perumal, Thamarai, Vinodhini, Muthualagi, Kodangi Vadivelu, Saratha, Abinaya, Sabitha Roy, Moorthy and Subramania Siva, among others.

Teaser hints at a story of social stigma and resistance

The recently released teaser offers a glimpse into the film’s setting and central conflict. Nooru Saami unfolds in a conservative rural landscape governed by rigid caste and religious customs. Swasika’s character appears to find herself at the centre of controversy after an act that villagers deem unacceptable. Though the teaser deliberately withholds the exact nature of her actions, it shows her becoming the target of judgement, humiliation and social exclusion.

The narrative seems to focus on how an individual confronts a community determined to preserve long-held traditions at any cost. Vijay Antony’s character appears closely connected to Swasika, though the teaser leaves audiences guessing whether he plays a relative, a protector or a romantic interest.

The film’s emotional core is expected to emerge from this conflict between personal choices and collective expectations. Given Sasi’s reputation for crafting character-driven dramas that balance sentiment with social commentary, Nooru Saami could potentially explore these themes with considerable depth.

On the technical front, the film features music by Balaji Sriram, cinematography by SB Darshan Kirlosh, and editing by Harish Yuvaraj. It is produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner.

Vijay Antony was last seen in director Arun Prabu’s political thriller Shakthi Thirumagan and also made a cameo appearance in Pookie. He is currently juggling multiple projects, including Lawyer, directed by Gentlewoman filmmaker Joshua Sethuraman.

For Sasi, Nooru Saami marks a significant return to feature filmmaking. The director’s last release was Sivappu Manjal Pachai, starring Siddharth and GV Prakash Kumar. With a story inspired by real events and a setting steeped in social tensions, Nooru Saami promises to be a film that combines emotional drama with larger societal questions when it reaches theatres on June 19.
