JioHotstar has officially released the trailer for its upcoming series, Pritam and Pedro. The show, which will release on July 3, features an impressive ensemble cast including Arshad Warsi, Vir Hirani, Vikrant Massey, Boman Irani, and Mona Singh among others.  Directed by Avinash Arun and produced by Rajkumar Hirani Films, the series delves into the high-stakes and rapidly evolving world of cybercrime and hacking.

The trailer provides a first look at the dynamic between the two leads: Vir Hirani, who plays the character of Pritam, and Arshad Warsi, who plays a dedicated police officer named Pedro. The story is based on a high-pressure investigation involving a kidnapping case that forces the duo to tackle the challenges of digital surveillance and cyber-criminal activity.

Throughout the trailer, the story highlights the clash between traditional police work and the modern, digital-first criminal landscape. Pritam is shown as a tech-savvy individual with a knack for hacking, finds himself entangled in a case that challenges the authorities. Meanwhile, the trailer also gave a look at the negative role for Vikrant Massey, adding a layer of tension and suspense to the plot. The quick-paced scenes suggest a plot filled with wit, technical challenges, and intense investigative hurdles as they track down a dangerous criminal.

This series also marks a special reunion, as Arshad Warsi collaborates once again with Rajkumar Hirani. Their association goes back to the iconic Munna Bhai franchise, where his character, Circuit in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai remains a career-defining role. The return of this creative partnership was also mentioned by the fans in the comment section of the trailer where they expressed their excitement to see Arshad Warsi as well as Rajkumar Hirani’s son Vir Hirani in a lead role.

Director Buchi Babu Sana has responded to the growing speculation surrounding his next project with Mahesh Babu. Speaking at a promotional event for Peddi on Sunday, the filmmaker addressed the rumours without directly confirming the collaboration. He said that such decisions would ultimately be taken by the producers and that time would determine what his next project would be. His comments neither confirmed nor denied the reports, leaving enough room for further speculation.

Mythological touch is oncoming?

Adding to the intrigue, the Tollywood filmmaker recently hinted in an interview that his next project could have mythological elements. This has intensified the speculation, especially since Mahesh Babu is currently working on Varanasi, a film directed by SS Rajamouli that is reportedly rooted in mythological themes.

Buchi Babu has carved a distinct identity with films like Uppena and Peddi. His stories often explore intense emotions, personal struggles, and layered relationships. He is known for creating grounded characters and dramatic conflicts that resonate with a wide audience. His films strike a balance between commercial appeal and emotional depth, often touching upon themes of sacrifice, resilience, and spiritual love. Before turning director, he worked in the writing department for Sukumar’s films, including Mahesh Babu’s 1: Nenokkadine.

All attention on Rajamouli’s Varanasi

For now, however, Mahesh Babu remains fully occupied with SS Rajamouli’s directorial venture, Varanasi. The ambitious globetrotting action-adventure demands his complete attention. In fact, Mahesh has not signed any new film over the last three years apart from Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram. Industry circles believe he is unlikely to commit to another project until substantial progress is made on Varanasi.

The film is among the most anticipated projects in Indian cinema and is scheduled to release in theatres on April 7 next year. Until then, all eyes remain firmly on Mahesh Babu’s ongoing collaboration with Rajamouli.

The divorce proceedings between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay (popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay) and his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam, are back in the spotlight. The hearing at the Chengalpattu Family Welfare Court concluded without a resolution, with the next date of hearing scheduled for August 7. The case has attracted significant public attention, especially amid recent reports suggesting a possible reconciliation between the couple.

Background to the split

Sangeetha formally filed the divorce petition on February 24 after earlier attempts at reconciliation reportedly failed. According to the petition, personal discussions between the couple had continued as recently as November 2025. Vijay and Sangeetha, who married in August 1999, have been together for more than two decades.

A British citizen of Sri Lankan Tamil origin, Sangeetha had initially travelled to Chennai as a fan before the two were introduced through their families. Her petition reportedly alleged that Vijay had been involved in an extramarital relationship with an actress, widely speculated in media reports to be Trisha Krishnan, since 2021. However, the actress was not named in the petition at this stage. The plea sought the dissolution of their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954, citing adultery and cruelty. Both Vijay and Sangeetha have maintained public silence since the legal proceedings began.

Vijay’s meteoric political rise

Vijay made his electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where TVK emerged as the single-largest party, leading to his appointment as the Chief Minister in May. His political journey has not been without controversy. A crowd crush at a rally in Karur in September 2025 reportedly claimed 41 lives, leading to a CBI inquiry. As he navigates the responsibilities of governance, his personal legal battle continues to unfold simultaneously. Meanwhile, he awaits the theatrical release of Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth. The film also stars Bobby Deol, Pooja Hegde, and Mamitha Baiju.
