9 hard-hitting Haider dialogues that make Shahid Kapoor starrer a must-watch

Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu, and Irrfan Khan starrer Haider is one of the most critically acclaimed films of Bollywood. Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the movie is based on William Shakespeare’s popular play Hamlet. Haider dialogues have played an important role in making the dramatic film a must-watch and so memorable.

9 powerful Haider dialogues that make Shahid Kapoor starrer a classic watch

1. “Hello? Hello? Mic testing 1,2,3… Hello…? Awaz aa rahi hai aap laog ko? Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello? “

Haider movie and this Shahid Kapoor dialogue remain iconic to the core. This is one of the many moving scenes from the film that exhibits the Deva actor’s prowess in acting. He is seen addressing the subject of law and order to a group of fellow citizens with quite an amusing introduction, “Hello? Hello? Mic testing 1,2,3… Hello…? Awaz aa rahi hai aap laog ko? Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello? “

2. “Yeh hota hai chutzpah”

In Haider movie’s terminology, cheating is referred to as “chutzpah.” In the above-mentioned scene itself, when Kapoor’s speech takes a serious turn, and he makes his citizens realize about exploitation they’ve been enduring as he says,  “Yeh hota hai chutzpah”

3. “Darya bhi main, darakht bhi main … Jhelum bhi main, chinar bhi main … dair hoon haram bhi hoon … shia bhi hoon, sunni bhi hoon, main hoon pandit … main tha, main hoon aur main hi rahoonga”

It is because of the Haider movie dialogues like these uttered by master of acting, Irrfan Khan that the film has attained a celebrated status. In one of the poignant scenes where his character Roohdaar is hanged in the jail, his valor is seen in the powerful dialogue when he says, “Darya bhi main, darakht bhi main … Jhelum bhi main, chinar bhi main … dair hoon haram bhi hoon … shia bhi hoon, sunni bhi hoon, main hoon pandit … main tha, main hoon aur main hi rahoonga” reflecting on his unison with all the religions and castes.

4. “Aap jism hain, main rooh … aap faani hai, main lafaani”

In the same scene, Narendra Jha’s character Dr. Hilal Meer shares his heartbreaking belief, wondering that the two would die in prison. However, Roohdaar being his confident self reflects on his calm belief stating, “aap marne wale hain, Dr saab main nahin marne wala” and when Meer further asks how would that happen, he throws his another poetic thought, “Aap jism hain, main rooh … aap faani hai, main lafaani.”

5. “Mar ke hi pata chalta haiki zinda rahe toh jeeye nahin…aur marke bhi bache nahin”

In the interesting scene, we see Shahid Kapoor’s character Haider finding a skull in a snow-capped graveyard. This prompts a little kiddo to ask why skulls laugh and as simple as it may sound, Kapoor’s character gives quite a deep answer, becoming a popular dialogue from the film that also makes us go into introspection. “Mar ke hi pata chalta haiki zinda rahe toh jeeye nahin…aur marke bhi bache nahin.” Quite a life-changing thought! Isn’t it?

6. “Dil ki agar sunun toh hai, dimag ki toh hai nahi … jaan loon ki jaan doon, main rahoon ki main nahi”

This scene from Vishal Bhardwaj features Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. In a totally disturbing mindset, Kapoor’s character holds a gun in his hand, while a perplexed Arshia looks at him. “Dil ki agar sunun toh hai, dimag ki toh hai nahi … jaan loon ki jaan doon, main rahoon ki main nahi,” illustrates the emotional and psychological turmoil depicted in the scene.

7. “Disappeared logon ki biwiyaan aadhi bewa kehlati hain, half widows”

The layered character of Tabu in the film had an intense role which leaves a deep impact while watching the film. Apparently, she calls herself half-widow after her husband, Dr Hilaal Meer goes missing, and she says, “Disappeared logon ki biwiyaan aadhi bewa kehlati hain, half widows”

8. “Talaashi ki itni aadat ho gayi hai yahan logon ko jab tak koi tatol naa le tab tak apne ghar mein bhi ghusne ki himmat nahin hoti”

The movie is set against the backdrop of Kashmir, and this dialogue rightly depicts the political conflict presented in the film. When Irrfan Khan’s character reaches out to Arshia for a message from Haider’s father, he drops quite an ironic line stating, “Talaashi ki itni aadat ho gayi hai yahan logon ko jab tak koi tatol naa le tab tak apne ghar mein bhi ghusne ki himmat nahin hoti”

9. “Gulon mein rang bharein, baad-e-nau bahaar chale, chale bhi aao ki gulshan ka kaarobaar chale”

Finally, after Roohdaar meets Haider, he introduces himself with the poetry that his father would often recite. “Gulon mein rang bharein, baad-e-nau bahaar chale, chale bhi aao ki gulshan ka kaarobaar chale,” a couplet that hits differently after watching the film.

Haider dialogues are deeply etched in the hearts of true-blue fans of the film. One of the critically acclaimed films directed by Bhardwaj was released in 2014. It explored the political intrigue and history of Kashmir, as well as the sexual conflicts in Shakespeare’s play.

Delhi Primary Schools To Move To Online Classes Amid Severe Pollution

Primary schools in Delhi will switch to online learning mode from Friday due to severe air pollution in the national capital, Chief Minister Atishi announced in a post on X. She said the online classes for primary school children will continue “until further directions”.

Her announcement came hours after the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) raised the pollution mitigation level to GRAP-3, effective from 8 am on Friday. This means all non-essential construction and demolition work are banned, among other actions.

While GRAP-3 is in effect, petrol vehicles from the older emission norms BS-III and diesel vehicles of BS-IV category are not allowed on the roads in Delhi and parts of the National Capital Region (NCR) such as Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gautam Budh Nagar.

“Due to rising pollution levels, all primary schools in Delhi will be shifting to online classes, until further directions,” Atishi said.

Delhi’s AQI at 9 am today was in ‘severe’ category, with a reading of 428. On Wednesday, the city reported the worst AQI in the country, with air quality turning ‘severe’ for the first time this season.

Doctors have cautioned people to stay indoors as much as possible. The effects of severe air pollution is not only limited to physical health, but also extended to cognitive wellbeing, affecting mood and emotional resilience.

Dr Arunesh Kumar, a senior consultant on respiratory medicine at Paras Health, Gurugram, said people need to limit outdoor activities, especially during early morning and late evening when air quality is typically poor, to protect the body from the impact of pollution post-festive season.

“If going outside is necessary, wearing an N95 mask can help filter harmful particles. Indoors, using a HEPA air purifier is recommended as it can significantly reduce particulate matter,” Dr Kumar told news agency PTI.

India Steps Up Extradition Bid Of Terrorist Arsh Dalla, Arrested In Canada

India Steps Up Extradition Bid Of Terrorist Arsh Dalla, Arrested In Canada

India will follow up a November 10 request to Canada to extradite terrorist Arshdeep Gill, alias Arsh Dalla, the de facto chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

In a statement on X, the ministry said a court in Canada’s Ontario had listed its extradition request for hearing and that it had sent separate requests to verify financial details as provided last year.

The ministry labelled Dalla a “proclaimed offender” named in over 50 cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion and terrorist acts, including terror financing. He was designated a ‘terrorist’ in January last year and is also an accused in multiple cases filed by the National Investigation Agency.

Delhi also believes Dalla has taken over the reins of the Khalistani terror outfit after Hardeep Nijjar was shot dead. The June 2023 killing of Nijjar – a Canadian citizen – has led to a diplomatic row with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declaring – without proof – that “agents” of India were involved in the murder.

Canada has refused earlier requests by India to hand over Dalla.

Dalla was arrested in Canada’s Halton last month after they were injured in an attack by unknown shooters. Dalla was injured and sought treatment at a local hospital that alerted the cops. The police searched their vehicle – a grey Dodge Durango – and found bullet marks on the SUV, and also found two bullet casings on the floor of the passenger’s seat, suggesting Dalla and Singh also fired back.

A day later, Dalla’s house was searched and a Taurus 9mm handgun, with a loaded magazine, was recovered, as also a rifle, a shotgun, and two high-capacity magazines in a gun safe.

Dalla and the associate, Gurjant Singh, were arrested and await bail hearings.

Who Is Arsh Dalla?

Dalla is from Moga in Punjab.

A known aide of Nijjar, Dalla is credited with orchestrating multiple targeted killings through a grid of sleeper cell assassins. Among the more high-profile victims of his murderous network was Manohar Lal, a member of the Gurmeet Ram Rahim-led Dera Sacha Sauda in November 2020.

Experts believe Dalla’s sleeper cell network spans three continents – Canada and the United States in North America, parts of Europe, and Dubai, the Philippines and Thailand in Asia.

Sources have told NDTV his vast criminal operation may also be supported by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence, or ISI, as he is known to be involved in smuggling guns across the Pakistan border.

These are smuggled to Punjab via drone drops. There are also unconfirmed reports of terrorist acts in collaboration with another banned terrorist outfit, the Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Dalla-Bishnoi Rivalry

Dalla’s criminal network is believed to have a long-standing rivalry with that led by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who, incredibly, runs his vast syndicate from a jail in Punjab.

The Bishnoi gang shot to focus after the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, and made headlines in April this year after a firing incident outside Bollywood star Salman Khan’s Mumbai home.

The gang also assassinated Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique last month, and was named by Canadian authorities in unsubstantiated allegations against India in connection with Nijjar’s killing.
