A woman has been raped and tortured with an iron rod in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, in a manner similar to the horrific Nirbhaya case of Delhi. She died before the police reached the spot.

With a thunderstorm battering the city in the early hours of Sunday and dumping 81.4 mm of rain in just a few hours, Delhi recorded its wettest May since record-keeping began in 1901, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A 15-year-old girl was confined in a house for two months, repeatedly raped, forced to undergo an abortion and was also made to indulge in prostitution by a man known to her family in Dombivali in Maharashtra’s Thane district, a police official said.
