Opposition parties, including Congress and Trinamool Congress, criticized the BJP-led government following the Howrah-Mumbai Mail derailment in Jharkhand, which resulted in two deaths and 20 injuries. The opposition parties accused the Railway Ministry of lacking accountability. Previous incidents were also highlighted, questioning the effectiveness of the ‘Kavach’ safety system and overall governance.

Manoj Kathuria, accused of causing a flood leading to the deaths of three students in Old Rajender Nagar, denied any intent or knowledge of their presence. He claimed his vehicle’s speed was manageable. The Delhi court sent him and four others to judicial custody till August 12, pending their bail plea hearing.

The victim’s father had filed a police complaint against Dawood in 2019 for harassing his daughter.
