Union home minister Amit Shah initiated BJP’s election campaign in Jammu and Kashmir by releasing the party’s manifesto. His visit is intended to mitigate internal disputes over ticket distribution ahead of the assembly elections. Security has been intensified in Jammu, a crucial district where BJP had won nine out of 11 seats in 2014.
