Peddi makers dismiss runtime-related rumours

Meanwhile, the team behind the pan-Indian film has dismissed rumours that director Buchi Babu Sana is working on a four-hour-long cut and that the film’s runtime will be excessive. “Do not believe any rumours circulating online about the final runtime of Peddi. Only the first half of the film has been locked, and re-recording is in the final stages under AR Rahman. The second half is currently in the final stage of shooting, with editing progressing simultaneously at a brisk pace. It will be completed very soon,” the team stated.

Peddi release date reconfirmed

The release date of Peddi has been reconfirmed. The multilingual film is set to release in theatres on April 30. The cast also includes Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyendu Sharma in prominent roles.

The buzz around Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious cinematic retelling of the Ramayana has reached an international scale. While the film has already grabbed attention for its stellar cast and massive production scale, recent reports suggest a big collaboration during the post-production phase. Legendary filmmaker Christopher Nolan and his long-time cinematographer, Academy Award winner Hoyte van Hoytema, are reportedly set to review the final cut of the film.

According to a report by The Times Of India, the production team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the film meets global standards of visual storytelling. The involvement of Nolan and Hoyte van Hoytema is not for a formal credit, but rather a high-level review of the film’s technical and visual execution.

A source close to the development shared details regarding this development, stating, “Nitesh and the producers are very clear that they want Ramayana to be a global cinematic event. The VFX and the cinematography are being handled by top-tier international teams. Given the scale, the makers have reached out to Christopher Nolan and Hoyte van Hoytema to look at the final cut and provide their technical feedback.” The source further added, “It’s about getting a perspective from the masters of IMAX and large-scale storytelling. Their insights on the pacing, the visual depth, and the overall cinematic experience will be invaluable.”

This collaboration marks a special moment for Bollywood, as Nolan and Hoyte van Hoytema are known for their work on masterpieces like Oppenheimer, Interstellar, and Dunkirk. Their expertise in high-resolution filmmaking and practical effects is expected to provide a unique edge to Nitesh Tiwari’s vision.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, the film features Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. With the technical assistance of world-class filmmakers, Ramayana is positioning itself not just as a domestic blockbuster, but also as a phenomenon in the global film community.
