Amid escalating violence in Bangladesh, a child was killed and three others critically injured on Saturday after the house of a BNP leader was allegedly locked from the outside and set on fire in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.

A 17-year-old girl allegedly orchestrated her father’s murder with her lover after he persistently opposed their relationship and confined her. The girl, who had previously attempted to sedate her parents, succeeded on December 18, allowing her boyfriend and his accomplice to fatally stab her father.
