With DNA profiling of nine victims of Thursday’s Air India crash complete, the hospital authorities handed over the first body to a family in Ahmedabad Saturday.

Visuals from inside one of the rooms of the hostel building damaged by the crash showed bare door and window frames bent out of shape by intense flames after the plane crashed.

Located approximately 76 km from Ahmedabad, Anand is known as Gujarat’s ‘NRI City’. Of the 274 people who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash on Thursday, 33 from Anand were on board the doomed Flight AI171 en route to London Gatwick.
