The Supreme Court is set to hear petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf Act. Meanwhile, six BJP-ruled states have filed petitions stressing legal ramifications if the Act is struck down.

A bunch of petitions challenging the amended Waqf law — meant to govern how Muslim charitable properties are managed — will be heard by the Supreme Court today. Six BJP-ruled states that intend to defend the law, have sought to join in.

The Enforcement Directorate, Kolkata has provisionally attached 707 acres of land, valued at approximately Rs. 1,460 crore, in and around Aamby Valley City, as part of its ongoing investigation into the Sahara Group’s money laundering activities.
