Triple Talaq, Article 370: PM On Big Reforms By 17th Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a special address in Parliament this evening — his last ahead of the general elections — said the 17th Lok Sabha “achieved what generations waited for”.

Addressing the 17 Lok Sabha on the last day of its last session, he said, “These five years were about reform, perform and transform in country… Many reforms, that were game-changers, happened during this year”.

The country is “moving towards a change,” PM Modi said, citing multiple issues from the scrapping of Article 370 and penalising Triple Talaq to hosting the prestigious G20 meet.

The long list, which also included Data protection bill, stringent laws to fight terror, removal of obsolete laws and women’s reservation bill as the achievements of the government — started with the new parliament building and the opening of the parliament library to the public.

“Everyone said we needed a new building. Everyone wanted it, but there was never a decision on it. We decided on it and owing to that we are sitting in the new Parliament today,” PM Modi said.

He also spoke of the focus on marginalised people including transgenders, 17,000 of whom “received identity cards”. “We gave Padma awards to transgenders,” he added.

The high-point, though, was the scrapping of Article 370 that gave Jammu and Kashmir its special status.

“Many generations dreamed of one constitution but this house scrapped Article 370. People who had a role in creating the constitution must be blessing us today.  The people of Kashmir were distant from social justice. Today, we took it to them,” he said.

“I am fortunate to get the opportunity to speak about the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Pran Pratishtha of Lord Ram on January 22 inside the Parliament,” Mr Singh said in Lok Sabha.

In Rajya Sabha, the lawmakers discussed the “White Paper on the Indian Economy” and its impact on the lives of the people of the country.

The Budget session of Parliament, the last of the 17th Lok Sabha, started with the address by President Droupadi Murmu to the joint sitting of two Houses on January 31. It is scheduled to conclude today.

Queen of Tears teaser 2: Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won share a love-hate relationship post-marriage

The makers have unveiled a teaser and images for the upcoming drama Queen of Tears. Written by the acclaimed Park Ji Eun, known for popular series like Crash Landing on You and My Love From the Star, Queen of Tears guarantees an exciting and funny love story. The show depicts a married couple overcoming challenges to stay together.

Check out the teaser here:

The newly released teaser of Queen of Tears features the main couple, Baek Hyun-woo (played by Kim Soo-hyun) and Hong Hae-in (played by Kim Ji-won), whose marriage is in serious trouble. The teaser takes on a humorous tone, starting with Kim Ji-won’s character stating, “I’ll never make you cry.” However, as the teaser progresses, the situation turns out to be the opposite. Kim Soo-hyun’s character expresses his initial belief that their marriage, between the daughter of Korea’s top conglomerate and a new employee, would be celebrated as the marriage of the century. However, it becomes clear that their marriage is going through a difficult phase.

The teaser unfolds further as we witness Hae-in’s icy attitude towards Hyun-woo and their evident lack of affection. Hyun-woo’s heartfelt statement, “I married you because I love you. Why don’t you love me now that we’re married?” succinctly captures the dilemma. The tumultuous love between the pair is vividly depicted, with Hyun-woo determined to pursue a divorce, resulting in several gut-wrenching scenes of him succumbing to tears.

Queen of Tears will premiere on March 9, 2024 on OTT.
