The Karnataka BJP has demanded action and accountability over lapses that led to two stampedes in Bengaluru during the IPL victory celebrations of RCB. Eleven people were killed in stampedes.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed the Bengaluru stampede that resulted in 11 fatalities, ordering a magisterial inquiry while refraining from defending the incident. He referenced past tragedies like the Kumbh Mela, while the BJP criticized the Congress-led government for negligence, citing inadequate planning and security.

The CJI’s remarks come in the backdrop of Justice Yashwant Varma facing allegations of corruption after the discovery of a large amount of cash from his official residence in Delhi
