Ranbir Kapoor confirms when Animal Park will go on floors
Ranbir Kapoor has finally shared a much-awaited update on Animal Park, the sequel to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal. While fans have been eager to know when the follow-up will begin production, the actor has clarified that the film is still a few years away from going on floors.
Speaking to Deadline Hollywood, Ranbir revealed that Animal Park is expected to begin filming in 2027. Explaining the delay, he said that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently busy with another project. “We should start that film in 2027. It’s a bit away,” Ranbir shared, putting to rest speculation about an earlier start.
The actor also shed light on the creative discussions around the sequel. While the script is still in development, Ranbir revealed that Vanga has already outlined a larger vision for the franchise. According to him, the director is keen on expanding the story into multiple parts, with the second instalment titled Animal Park. Ranbir added that the two have been exchanging ideas ever since the first film, making the process both collaborative and exciting.
One of the biggest highlights of Animal Park will be Ranbir’s dual role. The actor confirmed that he will be seen playing both the protagonist and the antagonist, a narrative twist that stems from events in the first film. For viewers unfamiliar with Animal, Ranbir explained that the antagonist undergoes plastic surgery to resemble his character, setting the stage for an intense face-off in the sequel.
Released in 2023, Animal was a hyper-violent action drama that explored a deeply dysfunctional father-son relationship. Ranbir starred as Ranvijay Singh, a man driven by unresolved childhood trauma and obsession with his emotionally distant father, played by Anil Kapoor. The film became a massive box office success and sparked widespread debate for its themes and treatment.
On the professional front, Ranbir Kapoor has a packed schedule ahead. He is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, a period drama also starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, slated for release in June 2026. He will also be seen later this year in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part One, where he essays the role of Lord Ram.

Filmfare was the first to tell audiences that Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda were set to team up for the third time for the film Ranabaali. And no sooner than the trailer dropped on Monday, fans expressed their love instantaneously. Vijay’s girlfriend Rashmika was also among the ones to quickly endorse the trailer. She took to Instagram and replied with a ‘love emoji’ on the post. Moreover, Rashmika is playing the leading lady (Jayamma) and is cast opposite Vijay Deverakonda in Ranabaali. Although the film is their third collaboration after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, rumours about their impending wedding have turned the spotlight on their pairing in the period action drama.
