The Madras High Court has strongly criticized the Enforcement Directorate (ED), likening it to a limpet mine dependent on a ‘ship’ of predicate offense. The court quashed ED’s ₹901-crore fixed deposit freeze order, emphasizing that PMLA actions require a scheduled offense and proceeds of crime.

Additional Director General of Police, Kundan Krishnan, apologized for linking increased crime rates to the agricultural lean season, claiming his statement was taken out of context. He expressed respect for farmers, emphasizing their vital role and his own family’s agricultural background. Krishnan clarified that criminals are solely responsible for crimes, regardless of caste or religion.
