The Kerala government set up a special team to investigate abuses against women in the Malayalam film industry following revelations in the Hema committee report. This action came after Congress leader Chennithala criticized the state government for their inaction. The report, based on testimonies from 51 industry professionals, detailed issues including sexual exploitation and harsh working conditions for women.
