Jennifer Lopez Attends Unstoppable Premiere At TIFF; Poses With Matt Damon And Other Cast As Ben Affleck Skips Event

As predicted by experts late last month, Jennifer Lopez attended the Toronto International Film Premiere of Unstoppable on Friday, September 6, alongside co-producer Matt Damon and in the absence of Ben Affleck, who, aside from being the actress’s soon-to-be ex-husband, is also a co-producer on the film via his and Damon’s company, Artists Equity.

Affleck’s absence from the showcase, needless to say, is attributed to his recent split from the singer-actress.

Lopez, who posed for photographers at the TIFF Red Carpet with Damon and other cast members Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, and Don Cheadle, cut a mesmerizing figure in an alluring, floor-length silver Tamara Ralph dress, featuring high slits up both sides, tied together with large black velvet bows.

She paired the look with a matching metallic clutch, Dolce & Gabbana platform high heels, and limited Hassanzadeh Jewelry. Her locks were straightened and polished to perfection to draw attention to her head-turning outfit. Her makeup was nude, again serving the same purpose as her hairstyle.

The men, for their part, arrived in business casual suits.

Unstoppable follows the real-life story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg. Despite his disability, Robles aimed for glory and, through determination and hard work, won an NCAA national championship in 2011 while competing for Arizona State University. His inspiring journey is the primary plot of the film. Jerome plays the lead character, while Lopez portrays his supportive mother.

William Goldenberg, who collaborated with Affleck as an editor on Argo (2012) and Air (2023), directed Unstoppable.

Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20, the second anniversary of their Georgia wedding. The singer-actress listed April 26 as their date of separation, which aligns with the time when rumors of tension between the couple first emerged. It began with Affleck missing the 2024 Met Gala with Lopez in New York, after which she extended her stay in the city while Affleck remained on the West Coast. The couple spent most of the summer apart, missing significant occasions like the Fourth of July, their Vegas anniversary on July 16, and Lopez’s 55th birthday later that month.

Lopez reportedly filed for divorce after making her best efforts to salvage the marriage but feeling that her efforts were not reciprocated by Affleck. According to a source who spoke to People, the split has the potential to get messy due to the absence of a prenuptial agreement.

Lopez and Affleck married in Vegas in July 2022 after rekindling their romance in 2021. They had a second wedding with family and friends in Georgia the following month. An insider described Bennifer’s renewed romance as an “expensive closure experiment,” according to Page Six.

The estranged couple still has at least one more professional commitment, with Lopez starring in the Affleck-produced Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Befriending Strangers, Cyanide Laced Drinks: Women Serial Killers Of Andhra

They befriended strangers and offered them drinks which were mixed with cyanide to steal gold, cash and other valuables in Andhra Pradesh’s Tenali district. Three women, the “serial killers” of Tenali, as claimed by the police, have murdered four people including three women.

The Andhra Pradesh police arrested Munagappa Rajini, Madiyala Venkateshwari and Gulra Ramanamma on Thursday. The police revealed that the victims would die shortly after consuming cyanide-laced drinks and then would steal their valuables.

The murders go back to June this year when the “serial killers” murdered a woman named Nagur B. They tried to kill two others but they survived, the police said.

Madiyala Venkateshwari is no stranger to committing crime. The 32-year-old woman used to work as a volunteer in Tenali for four years and later travelled to Cambodia where she was allegedly involved in cybercrime.

The police have seized cyanide and other evidence from their possession. They have also arrested a man who allegedly supplied cyanide to them.

The incident in Tenali brings back the bone-chilling memories of the Jolly Joseph cyanide killings in Kerala where a woman killed six people in 14 years.

Tenali Superintendent of Police, Satish Kumar, said that the women had confessed to the crimes. The police have warned people to be cautious and not befriend strangers easily.

“Second Time My Father Was Forced To…”: Omar Abdullah On IC 814 Hijack

Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, shed light on the difficult decisions faced by his father, Farooq Abdullah, during the 1999 IC814 hijacking incident. He highlighted the tough decisions faced by his father, Farooq Abdullah, during that time.

In an interview with ANI, Omar Abdullah revealed that the IC814 hijack was not the first instance where his father was compelled to release prisoners.

He cited a previous case involving Rubaiya Syed, the daughter of former Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who was kidnapped by Kashmiri separatists in 1989. The Central Government, led by VP Singh, had released five jailed terrorists of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in exchange for Rubaiya’s safe release.

“This is the second time my father was forced to release people. With Rubaiya Syed and families of the hijacked victims, they used the Rubaiya Syed incident as the benchmark. They said when you could release terrorists for a home minister’s daughter, is our family not precious? Why is it only she is precious to the country? Then if she is precious to you, then our family is precious to us. So we set a benchmark that had to be followed,” Omar Abdullah said.

Notably, the IC814 hijack has become a hot topic of conversation and is spanned with controversy and concerns about the names of terrorists being used in the Anubhav Sinha directed series on Netflix, “IC814: The Kandahar Hijack.”

Omar Abdullah emphasised that the precedent set during the Rubaiya Syed incident became a benchmark for the families of the hijacked individuals, who demanded equal consideration and safety during the IC814 hijack in 1999.

“I think Government of India had an option. I think Government of India at the Rubaiya Syed kidnapping time had the option of not negotiating with terrorists. They chose to negotiate. After that, once you’ve done it once, then you have to do it again,” Omar Abdullah said.

Regarding the execution of Afzal Guru, Omar Abdullah clarified that the Jammu and Kashmir government had no involvement in the process. He stated that if state approval had been required, it would not have been granted.

“The unfortunate thing was that the J-K government had nothing to do with Afzal Guru’s execution. Otherwise, you would have had to do it with the permission of the state government, which I can tell you in no uncertain terms would not have been forthcoming. We wouldn’t have done it. I don’t believe that any purpose was served by executing him,” Omar Abdullah said.
