A fire at a retirement home in the city of Manado on Indonesia’s on Sulawesi island has killed 16 people, a local police official was quoted as saying on Monday by state news agency Antara.

The National Citizen Party (NCP), formed by leaders of the ‘2024 July Uprising,’ is facing internal dissent. Thirty members oppose an alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) for the upcoming polls due to JeI’s controversial history. This has led to resignations, with some members considering rival parties or independent candidacies.
