Senior IPS officer Deven Bharti has been appointed the new commissioner of Mumbai police, officials said on Wednesday.

A Bangladesh court granted bail to former Iskcon leader Chinmoy Krishna Das in a sedition case after his arrest sparked widespread outrage. The charges stemmed from the hoisting of a saffron flag above Bangladesh’s official flag during a rally in Chattogram. Das, spokesperson for a minority rights group, advocates for Hindu community reforms and organized large public rallies.

Adarsh Raut, a Jalna resident, believes he encountered a suspect in the Pahalgam terror attack a day before the incident. Raut recalls a man at a Baisaran Valley food stall questioning his religious identity and remarking on the sparse crowd. Following the attack that killed 26 tourists, Raut recognized the man’s sketch released by the NIA.
