Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram criticised the ruling BJP for bringing up the Katchatheevu issue, calling it a “closed matter” being exploited for political gains before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Chidambaram questioned the timing of the BJP’s focus on this issue, suggesting it is a tactic to divert attention from the presence of Chinese troops on Indian land.
