Fans of the franchise are experiencing the nostalgia and the grandeur of Mahishmati. After two days, the Rajamouli directorial has netted around Rs 17 crore in India. The collections yet again demonstrate why he remains one of the finest storytellers in Indian cinema.

Powerful comeback

After earning around Rs 9.65 crore on the first day (October 31), Baahubali: The Epic continued its successful run at the box office on its second day. The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer collected Rs 7 crore at the ticket window on Saturday taking its overall collections to Rs 17 crore. (The special screenings on Friday earned Rs 1.15 crore). With Sunday being a holiday, the film is likely to cross the Rs 20 crore milestone at the domestic market. These numbers are phenomenal for a re-release film, and trade analysts comment that Baahubali: The Epic made a powerful comeback to the theatres. Many stated that the idea of clubbing two parts, Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali: The Conclusion, into one resonated with the audiences. Moreover, the film has a personal connection too with the audiences. They look at the fantasy drama as a film that catapulted Prabhas to a Pan India superstar, and Rajamouli to one of the acclaimed directors in the country

Baahubali: The Eternal War

Baahubali: The Epic, the new version has a run time of approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes with select sequences for a refined experience. Interestingly, towards the end of the film, there’s a teaser of an animated 3D film in the world of Baahubali titled Baahubali: The Eternal War. It is a 3-hour-30-minute combined version of the two live-action films. The visuals received a stunning response from the audience. Rajamouli recently revealed that the estimated budget of the Ishan Shukla-animation film was Rs 120 crore. However, no release date has been announced for the film so far.

The makers of Peddi released Janhvi Kapoor’s character poster on Saturday introducing her as ‘Acchiyamma’ from the rustic action drama. While the poster gained attention, what hogged more limelight was Ram Charan’s moniker in the poster, ‘Mega Power Star.’

‘Global Star’ tag

After ‘Naatu Naatu’ song from RRR won the Oscars (for Best Original Song in 2023), the PR team of Ram Charan wanted to leverage in on the film’s global success. Subsequently, fans of the actor began referring to him with the moniker, ‘Global Star.’ The actor too embraced it for his subsequent films, Acharya and Game Changer. But the two films failed miserably at the box office. And in the latest promotional poster of his upcoming film Peddi, the makers referred to the actor as ‘Mega Power Star.’ Perhaps the box office disappointments of his earlier films may have prompted the actor to go back to his earlier tag. The move has certainly sparked discussion within the film industry circles and fans. And according to sources in the know, it’s a conscious move by Ram Charan to move away from the ‘Global Star’ tag and return to his original moniker. “Ram Charan may have asked the makers of Peddi to drop the “Global Star” tag for the film. He is determined to strike back at the box office with vengeance with Peddi, a rustic sports drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana.”

Boman Irani on board?

Meanwhile, Boman Irani has reportedly joined the ensemble cast of Peddi. The actor will be seen in a significant role in the sports drama, which has recently wrapped up the Sri Lanka schedule of shooting. Boman will also play a pivotal role in Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab. He is returning to Telugu cinema after seven years. His last film was Naa Peru Surya (2018), starring Allu Arjun.
