US President Donald Trump said Friday he would meet with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on August 15 in Alaska, as the Republican billionaire hopes to help mediate an end to the war in Ukraine.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on Friday suggested sending a joint nomination alongside Armenia for Trump to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after the rivals signed an accord aimed at ending decades of conflict.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Trump said of the agreement, which will reopen key transport routes.
