Upcoming Hollywood Movies in July 2024: Deadpool and Wolverine and more

July is here with a slate of fresh movie releases. Among the upcoming Hollywood movies dropping this month is Deadpool & Wolverine. The film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has been in the works for a while and it finally hits theatres this month. Fan-favourite franchise Despicable Me returns with a fourth instalment that digs deeper into Gru’s life. Meanwhile, Eddie Murphy returns to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise.

Here are all the upcoming Hollywood movies releasing in July 2024:

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F

In Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Eddie Murphy reprises his role as Axel Foley in the iconic action-comedy franchise. The star reunites with some of his old pals including Judge Reinhold and John Ashton along with new faces including Kevin Bacon.

Space Cadet

Emma Roberts plays a party girl with big dreams to become an astronaut in the uplifting comedy Space Cadet. The film is a fun Elle Woods-coded watch with effortless performances from Roberts, Tom Hopper and Poppy Liu.

Despicable Me 4

The minions are back with their shenanigans in Despicable Me 4. The film sees Gru welcome a new family member. As he navigates the challenges of being a dad, a criminal who escaped from prison threatens to disrupt his life.

Longlegs follows FBI agent Lee Harker who is tasked with solving a series of murders in the ’90s. The investigation takes a dark turn when what looks like a serial killer case involves the occult.

Starring Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell and more, Twisters is about professionals who track tornados. They experiment with tracking systems while trying not to get caught up in the storm.

The next big Marvel movie is almost here. Starring Ryan Reynolds who reprises his role as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s much-awaited Wolverine, Deadpool & Wolverine promises to give the MCU its new iconic duo.

AR Rahmans documentary Headhunting to Beatboxing to premiere at IFFM 2024

AR Rahman recently released the poster of his documentary Headhunting to Beatboxing. Moreover, it was also revealed that the documentary will have its world premiere at the upcoming Indian Film festival of Melbourne (IFFM).

The film will revolve around Nagaland and trace the evolution of music across cultures, tribes, and generations. It will supposedly take the audiences on an immersive and enlightening musical anthropological odyssey. It will also feature the ancient traditions of headhunting tribes to the musical renaissance in Nagaland.

Speaking about the film’s premiere, AR Rahman noted, “The film is very special to us, as it throws light on the beautiful state of Nagaland and highlights the rich cultural and musical history it contains. Rohit and I are looking forward to the premiere and showcasing it to the audiences in Melbourne.”

The director of the documentary, Rohit Gupta, said, “We are honored to be selected in competition at IFFM. I feel the narrative holds global relevance , along with the incredible healing power of music.  The film has been painstakingly made over 5 years and I am excited to see the audience’s reactions to it and for them to explore the rich cultural and musical tapestry of Nagaland.  Especially to hear a completely new sound coming from India.”

The highly-anticipated documentary is slated to premiere between August 15 to August 25.

Jungkooks song Seven earns record-breaking streams on a music platform

BTS’ Jungkook has achieved a new feat on a popular music platform. His solo song Seven earned 1.7 billion streams, making him the first South Korean artist and the fastest Asian artist to achieve the same. Seven also became the fastest debut song of 2023 to reach this feat.

Jungkook made his solo debut with Seven, that also features American rapper Latto. He later released his second single, 3D, featuring American artist Jack Harlow. The singer mesmerized his fans with the release of his solo album GOLDEN.

Jungkook is currently performing his mandatory military services. Along with BTS members Suga, Jimin, V, and RM, he is scheduled to return after the completion of his services in June 2025. Recently, the band’s oldest member, Jin, got discharged from the military. J-Hope is scheduled to return in October 2024.
