Canada has made a new diplomatic appointment in India, the first posting since a diplomatic row between New Delhi and Ottawa under former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government.

Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh has accused certain political groups of attempting to inflame regional passions and incite hatred over the water dispute between the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Prajwal Revanna, former MP and grandson of ex-PM HD Devegowda, has been convicted by a special court for raping a 47-year-old domestic help. This conviction pertains to one of the four rape cases filed against him. The court had earlier charged Revanna under various sections of the IPC and IT Act, including rape, sexual harassment, voyeurism, and destruction of evidence.
