​Acknowledging the “barbaric nature” of the offence and the parents’ dissatisfaction with the probe so far, the court directed the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police to constitute an SIT with a strong representation of women officers. 

Alia Bhatt is currently gearing up for two films and out of them, one is a female-led actioner. Yash Raj Films’ spy-thriller Alpha will see Alia and Sharvari in the leads. Earlier, Alia was seen in another female-led film, Jigra. However, the film failed to perform at the box office.

In a recent interview, the actress opened up about how films within this space often don’t receive widespread acceptance. She also shared that she is betting on Alpha, which is the first female-led film in the YRF spy universe.

Talking to Femina India, she said, “I think what made me say ‘yes’ (to Alpha) was, number one, it’s a genre that I’m betting on, and one that has not been accepted in the past, in India at least. So, I wanted to understand: why has it not been accepted wholeheartedly in the past? There have been female action characters within films driven by men, but there’s never been a story that was told where the protagonist is a female character, and where the storytelling is engaging you to the point where it doesn’t matter what the gender is.”

 She added, “I could be completely wrong, but I believe, deep in my heart, that if the story is powerful and if the story connects, it doesn’t matter who’s leading it, or whether the protagonist is male or female. There have been female-led successful films, but in this particular genre? It’s historically not fully worked. And number two, I really liked the story! I thought it was new. It’s something that I hadn’t done as an actor before, and I had not seen in recent years.”

Alia also spoke about collaborating with Sharvari in the film and said that Alpha is a fun film.

“I found a really good vibe with Sharvari. I also wanted to have fun at the movies. Alpha is actually a popcorn entertainment, fun film. Very sort of specific genre with storytelling at the heart of it. Once the unit is out and, hopefully, the world opens up, you will see a lot of that, there’s something to explore here with women and this genre,” she concluded.

Alia Bhatt will also be seen in Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.

The makers have released the official trailer for the upcoming series Off Campus. It is based on the international bestselling book series from Elle Kennedy and created for television by Louisa Levy. All episodes of the series will be available on Prime Video. A new version of the book cover, featuring series stars Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli, has also been released.

The plot follows an an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives. They grapple with love, heartbreak and self-discovery while forging deep friendships and enduring bonds. Hannah and Garrett navigate the complexities that come with transitioning into adulthood. The first season follows the sexy and fun “opposites attract” romance between quiet songwriter, Hannah and Briar University’s all-star hockey athlete, Garrett.

The trailer shows Hannah and Garrett getting together as a fake couple. Hannah tells Garrett that he wants to gain Justin’s attention while Garrett wants Hannah to help him with his academics. The two hatch a plan, which helps them fulfil their motives. The glimpses are filled with sudden romance, flirtatious exchanges and the two protagonists realising their affection for each other.

The cast includes Ella Bright, Belmont Cameli, Mika Abdalla, Antonio Cipriano, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Josh Heuston and Stephen Kalyn. Creator Louisa Levy co-showruns and executive produces Off Campus with Gina Fattore. Leanna Billings of Billings Productions and Neal Flaherty also serve as executive producers.

Elle Kennedy’s Off Campus book series comprises five titles. Following The Deal, released in 2025, The Mistake also debuted that same year. The Score and The Goal were published in 2016, while The Legacy came out in 2021.

The series is scheduled to release on May 13, 2026.
