Karan Johar has finally broken his silence over unfollowing people on Instagram. Calling it a digital detox, the filmmaker joked that this “can’t be national news.”

He took to Instagram’s Story section to write, “It’s a DIGITAL DETOX!!!! Am unfollowing everyone to reduce my time and energy spent on the gram!!! This can’t be national news for gods sake…please clickbait something else! This is irrelevant!”

Last night, many noticed that Karan Johar had unfollowed several people on Instagram, including some of his close friends and associates such as Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ananya Panday, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Gauri Khan, Aryan Khan and Suhana Khan, among many others.

This move naturally led to speculations. However, our source informed us that it was a social media strategy.

According to our source, “Karan Johar will be unfollowing his following list because of a social media strategy. It has nothing to do with any particular star, page or person.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan Johar recently backed the film Chand Mera Dil starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya. The film received a mixed response at the box office.

The release date of the crime series Raakh has been announced. Headlined by Prosit Roy, it has been created, written and co-directed by Anusha Nandakumar and Sandeep Saket, with dialogues by Ayush Trivedi. Raakh stars Sonali Bendre, Ali Fazal and Aamir Bashir in the lead roles. 

Raakh is an investigative drama that unfolds as a visceral study of the criminal mind and the darkness that lingers beneath the surface of everyday life. When two teenagers vanish without a trace, a close-knit family is shattered and an entire city is left on edge. A relentless investigating officer launches a nationwide manhunt to uncover the truth — but the deeper he goes, the more the case pulls him into a world of violence and human depravity.

Prosit Roy, Director and Executive Producer, Raakh, said about the show, “Raakh has been one of the most creatively fulfilling and emotionally intense projects I have worked on, because at its heart, it goes far beyond being a crime thriller. It has also been wonderful to once again collaborate with Prime Video after Paatal Lok, and I cannot wait for audiences to experience this on June 12.”

Raakh will be released on Prime Video on June 12. 

The makers are gearing up to release Brown on the OTT platform Zee5. Apart from the leading cast, the project will see special appearances from two artistes, Helen and Shaan. Helen has opened up about her return to acting with the series, and her character being quite the comic relief in an intense plot.

As she returns to acting after fourteen years, Helen is nothing but excited. She reveals, “It’s been such a long time since I faced the camera. Returning to acting, even for a small role in Brown, has been delightful. Sometimes, it’s not about the length of the role, but the joy of being part of something special.”

Opening up about her character, Helen also shares, “My character brings in moments of lightness and comic relief. I’m so glad I was considered for this part – it gave me the chance to reconnect with my craft and relive the magic of being on set.”

The ensemble cast features Karisma Kapoor, Surya Sharma, Jisshu U. Sengupta, Soni Razdan and more. Helen shares that working with Karisma and Soni has been wonderful. “Working with Soni and Karisma was an absolute pleasure. I’ve known them both for years, and sharing the screen with them felt so natural and full of warmth,” she adds.

The makers are also excited about singer Shaan’s cameo in the series. “What also made this project especially close to my heart is its setting. The show is rooted in Kolkata and beautifully captures its unique cultural and emotional landscape. With so many Bengali nuances woven into the narrative, there were moments I could deeply relate to, both personally and artistically. Being a part of a show like Brown, which is intense, layered, and so rich in detail, was a truly fulfilling experience, and I’m grateful I got to contribute to it in more ways than one,” he adds.
