Delhi woke up to worsening air on Friday as the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 384 at 8:00 am, placing it in the ‘very poor’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Delhi woke to a thick smog blanket as winter sets in, with the AQI reaching 384, categorizing it as ‘Very Poor’. Several areas reported ‘Severe’ levels, exceeding 400. While authorities lifted Stage III restrictions, vigilance under earlier stages continues to prevent further deterioration. Residents noted increased pollution, with one attributing it to volcanic ash.

The air quality remained in the ‘severe’ range for several areas, with Mundka recording the highest pollution level in the city with an AQI of 436.
