Following the Gambhira Bridge collapse in Vadodara, which claimed 13 lives, revelations emerged that authorities ignored repeated warnings about the bridge’s unsafe condition. Local leaders, including Harshadsinh Parmar, had alerted the Roads and Buildings Department as early as 2022, demanding immediate closure and reconstruction. Despite reminders and concerns raised after the Morbi tragedy, officials maintained the bridge was under consideration.

Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad, already under fire for assaulting a canteen worker over stale food, ignited further controversy by making disparaging remarks against the Shetty community, accusing them of corrupting Maharashtra’s culture through businesses like dance bars. He defended his actions by citing concerns about youth corruption and cultural degradation, while acknowledging his violent approach was wrong.
