Filming has begun for Gautham Ram Karthik’s new feature, marking a major step forward for both the actor and GKB Ventures, which officially enters the production arena with this project. The makers confirmed that the shoot is underway and also revealed the full cast, setting off a wave of curiosity among fans following Gautham’s recent choices.
A fresh collaboration takes flight
The yet-to-be-titled film, currently known as Production Number One of GKB Ventures, is directed by Dhina Raghavan, who now takes the leap into independent filmmaking. Dhina carries experience from working with National Award-winning director Raju Murugan, the mind behind films like Cuckoo, Joker and Japan. Raju Murugan has penned the dialogues for the film, lending it a creative voice that promises emotional sharpness and observational wit.
Ganesh K Babu, who made an impressive directorial debut with Dada in 2023, moves into the role of producer with this project. His transition from filmmaker to producer adds an interesting layer to the film’s assembly, especially considering his inclination toward youthful stories with emotional heft.
The cast includes noted talents like Selvaraghavan, P Vasu, Robbie, A Venkatesh, Maaran, Indhumathi, Aditya Kathir and Bakkiyam Sankar. Their presence hints at a narrative built on character dynamics and genre shifting possibilities. While the plot remains under wraps, the combination of performers suggests a film that balances drama, humour and emotional stakes.
A strong technical crew drives the vision
Music for the film is composed by Sam CS, who has carved a niche in Tamil cinema for atmospheric soundscapes in titles like Vikram Vedha, Kaithi and Adanga Maru. His inclusion signals an aural identity that will likely lean into mood and energy. Lyrics come from Yugabharathi, Ganesh K Babu and Sowmiya Bharathi D, an intriguing mix that may bring range to the soundtrack.
Cinematography is handled by Pratheep Kaliraja, known for his work in Tamil independent cinema. Editing comes from Deepak, while art direction is spearheaded by Tha Ramalingam. Abishek Srinivas serves as stunt choreographer, suggesting the film may feature pulsating action sequences.
For Gautham Ram Karthik, this project arrives at a busy moment. The actor has the science fiction thriller Root lined up for release. Directed by debutant Sooriyaprathap S, the film features Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana in his Tamil debut along with Bhavya Trikha. With Root expected to widen Gautham’s range, the commencement of the new film reflects his commitment to exploring varied genres and collaborations.
As Production Number One of GKB Ventures moves steadily into its shoot, the combination of an energetic new director, a respected dialogue writer, an experienced ensemble and a purposeful technical team positions the film as one of the noteworthy Tamil projects to watch in the upcoming cycle.
