Sanjay Dutt is back in the headlines, and this time it is for a project that seems to be stirring a lot of curiosity. After winning hearts with his performance as SP Chaudhary Aslam in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, where fans loved his comical answers and savage attitude, he has officially announced his next big project. Titled Aakhri Sawal, the film will release in cinemas on May 15, 2026.

The announcement came through a striking poster that looks intense and powerful. Designed with a giant question mark as its centrepiece, the visual aesthetic features a burnt, gritty look, layered with old newspaper clippings that suggest a story carrying years of historical weight and noise. Adding to the intensity, the poster shows people holding red flags, hinting at themes of protest, anger, and a story that has been building up for a long time.

Sanjay Dutt’s face is positioned in the middle of the poster in profile, leaving the audience wondering if he holds the answers or is the one searching for them. Along with the visual is the intriguing tagline: “The question India never stopped asking.” While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film’s foundation goes back in history. Aakhri Sawal draws from the 100-year journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which was founded in 1925 by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. The story focuses on a specific moment that the film suggests quietly shifted the course of the country and an episode not typically found in standard textbooks.

The cast features an ensemble including Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Sameera Reddy, Tridha Choudhury, and Neetu Chandra. Sharing the news on social media, Sanjay wrote, “The question India never stopped asking. Get ready to know the answer on 15th May only in cinemas.” The announcement received a warm response, with his wife Maanayta Dutt posting fire emojis and fans expressing their excitement over this new project.

He took to Instagram to share a video, captioning it, “The Iranis are ready for peace talks with Mr. Donald Trump.” In the clip, he says, “So, as you may know, it’s going viral that Mr Donald Trump wants to speak to the Iranis. And three people have been beckoned. Talks are happening with Smriti ji, Aruna Irani ji, and me, Boman Irani. So, I am ready. I am ready to do anything for peace.”

Adding his own comic conditions to the imagined meeting, Boman says, “I have only one problem, I won’t go to Washington. I think it would be best if Trump sahab and his delegation come to Dadar Parsi Colony. We’ll feed them dhansak, custard and other food. But if they bring along a big gas cylinder, I think it’ll make life very smooth for all of us.” He ends the video with a sarcastic smile and a thumbs-up.

On the work front, Boman made his directorial debut in 2025 with The Mehta Boys, where he also starred alongside Avinash Tiwary and Shreya Chaudhry. He has also been seen in projects like Detective Sherdil and Tanvi The Great, and began this year with The Raja Saab featuring Prabhas. Up next, he has Raja Shivaji with Riteish Deshmukh and Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 in the pipeline.
