Anushka Sharma Advocates Yoga Shares Wellness Message on Social Media

Anushka Sharma has recently taken to Instagram to share an uplifting story on yoga. She emphasised on the power of yoga and dropped a simple yet powerful message.

The message read, “Yoga is not a workout. Modern yoga is often reduced to asana (the physical postures). Yet in the classical tradition, asana was never the goal. As Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras describe, its purpose was to steady the body and calm the mind in preparation for meditation. What dominates in the world today is only a fragment of a far deeper philosophical and spiritual system oriented towards self-realisation.”

In one of her earlier posts during her first pregnancy, she had shared a heartwarming photo with husband Virat Kohli, where the then mom-to-be was seen doing yoga. “This exercise is ‘hands-down’ (and legs up) the most difficult one… #throwback . P.S. – As yoga is a big part of my life, my doctor recommended that I can do all such asanas that I was doing before I was pregnant( after a certain stage)barring twists & extreme forward bends, but of course with the appropriate and required support. For the Shirshasana, which I have been doing for many years, I ensured that I used the wall for support and also my very able husband supporting me balance, to be extra safe . This was also done under the supervision of my yoga teacher @eefa_shrof who was virtually with me through this session. I’m so glad I could continue my practice through my pregnancy,” she had mentioned.


In a throwback interview with Brut India, Anushka had opened up about her diet plan. She revealed, “Iske jo alternatives hote hain wo bahut achhe hain. Main amaranth, rajgiri, bajre, jowar, and Quinoa ki roti khati hun (The alternatives of these are very good. I eat roti made of amaranth, rajgira, bajra, jowar, and quinoa).”
