Sooraj Barjatya has recently opened up about the strongest female influence in his life. During an interview with Filmfare, he spoke about his recent project Sangamarmar, while sharing about the woman who has shaped him as a person and a professional. Sooraj noted that his mother Sudha Barjatya is his ultimate inspiration. In fact, every female character he has ever written, has some way or the other, been influenced by his mother.
He further added, “Ladies are also potential mothers. So to that extent, any lady in saree, being graceful and Indian – that’s been my strength and my weakness. But this girl, Amrita is the most ziddi girl we have written. She is one of the most fascinating girls. And sometimes while writing, I often wondered why Aditya (Saurabh Raaj Jain) is loving her. But I think that is the best part. If you ask me, what did he find in her, I don’t know. But that is the most beautiful part of this love story.”

Some of Barjatya’s best female characters remain Suman (played by Bhagyashree) in Maine Pyar Kiya, Nisha (played by Madhuri Dixit) in Hum Aapke Hain Koun…!, Sadhna (Tabu) and Preeti (Sonali Bendre) Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Poonam (played by Amrita Rao) in Vivah and more. Through these characters, Barjatya has consistently celebrated women as the moral and emotional backbone of the society.
