Actor Jayasurya has officially signed on to headline the next directorial venture of Jithin K Jose, who made an impressive debut with the 2025 Mammootty-starrer Kalamkaval. The project, which is yet to be titled, was announced on Friday, with the actor sharing photos alongside the director and producer Rajeev Govindan.
Govindan, known for backing successful films such as Ordinary and Anarkali, will produce the film under the banner of Magic Moon Productions. The announcement has already generated interest, given the filmmaker’s strong start and Jayasurya’s reputation for picking diverse scripts.
The screenplay is being co-written by Jithin along with filmmaker Raffi, suggesting a blend of fresh perspective and commercial sensibility. While the makers have kept details about the plot and genre under wraps, production is expected to begin soon, with plans to shoot across multiple locations in India and abroad.
Familiar crew, fresh expectations
The film also reunites Jithin with key members of his Kalamkaval team. Cinematographer Faisal Ali, editor Praveen Prabhakar and music director Mujeeb Majeed are all part of the technical lineup, ensuring continuity in craft while scaling up for a bigger canvas.
Before stepping into direction, Jithin had made his mark as the story writer of Kurup, starring Dulquer Salmaan. His transition to filmmaking with Kalamkaval was seen as a confident debut, and expectations are now higher as he moves into his second project with a leading star at the forefront.
For Jayasurya, the film adds to an already packed and varied slate. The actor, who was last seen in Aadu 3: One Last Ride – Part 1, continues to balance mainstream entertainers with high-concept projects. He will next be seen in Kathanar: The Wild Sorcerer, directed by Rojin Thomas, as well as Operation Tral, which marks the directorial debut of composer Ratheesh Vega.
With a promising director, a reliable production banner and a proven performer leading the cast, the upcoming film is shaping up to be one to watch. More details regarding the extended cast and storyline are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
