Filmfare Exclusive: Hansal Mehtas Next to Star Vishal Jethwa

Our sources have confirmed that National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to collaborate with Vishal Jethwa for his next film, bringing together a director known for layered storytelling and a young performer celebrated for his intense screen presence.

Mehta has long been regarded as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Hindi cinema. Over the years, he has built a reputation for crafting stories rooted in realism with critically acclaimed projects such as Shahid, Aligarh and the widely celebrated web series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. His film Shahid, starring Rajkummar Rao, won the National Film Award for Best Direction and cemented Mehta’s reputation as a filmmaker committed to telling stories that matter.

Jethwa, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the most promising actors of his generation. He first gained widespread attention for his chilling performance as the antagonist in Mardaani 2, where he starred opposite Rani Mukerji. The actor continued to impress critics and audiences with his nuanced performances in projects like Tiger 3 and the acclaimed drama Homebound, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and received international praise.

The upcoming collaboration between Mehta and Jethwa is already generating interest within the industry, largely because both are known for their stellar talent. While Mehta’s cinema often explores themes of identity, morality, and social justice, Jethwa has demonstrated a rare ability to disappear into morally complex roles.

If Mehta’s track record with actors is any indication, having previously delivered career-defining roles for performers like Rajkummar Rao, this collaboration with Jethwa could well mark another powerful chapter in both their journeys. We are super stoked to get an official confirmation soon, what about you? Keep watching this space for more on Bollywood.
