Brahmastra Part One: Shiva receives National Film Award for VFX

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, and others, won big at the 70th National Film Awards 2024 which took place on October 8th. The film’s producer Karan Johar, Namit Malhotra and director Ayan Mukerji were honoured with the National Film Award for Best Film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic) at a ceremony in New Delhi, where the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, presented the awards.

Producer Namit Malhotra has financed large-scale global projects like The Garfield Movie and The Angry Birds Movie 3. 

 

Under him, the Prime Focus Group delivered stunning visual effects that brought the film’s fantastical world to life. The movie became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2022 and the fifth highest grossing Indian film that year.

The founder of Prime Focus also expressed his pride in winning the award and said, “Winning the National Award for Best VFX Film for Brahmastra is a defining moment for our team and the entire Indian VFX industry. This honour, presented by the President of India, highlights the innovative work that went into bringing Ayan Mukerji’s extraordinary vision to life. I am incredibly proud of how our teams at DNEG and ReDefine pushed creative and technical boundaries to deliver a visual masterpiece that competes on a global scale. This award is a true testament to our commitment to excellence and storytelling.”

The film also received accolades for Best Male Playback Singer (Arijit Singh for Kesariya), Best Film in AVGC, and Best Music Director (Songs), won by Pritam.
