The Supreme Court condemned Uttar Pradesh and Prayagraj authorities for illegally demolishing houses without due process, violating residents’ Article 21 rights. It ordered Rs 10 lakh compensation for affected owners. The demolitions were reportedly based on mistaken assumptions about the land’s ownership.
